Hotel Monaco - DC was one of the best choices we made for our wedding! Buddee was a dream to work with. He knows his venue so well, he knows what works, and how to make the night flow. I knew all along that the Hotel would be beautiful and that if Buddee was in charge-- I didn't have to worry. I did hear from guests that there wasn't enough food at the cocktail hour-- which was a suprise since we were pretty clear that we wanted lots of food there. Guest did say that the food in the reception was WONDERFUl (we did chicken) which was great to hear. We were very happy with the choice of Hotel Manaco Washington, DC.
HIRE Growing Wild for your wedding!!! Everything was even better then I thought it would be. Barbara was a dream to work with. She was the first florist I met with-- and I just knew that she would be perfect and she was. Barbara knows her flowers, what looks good together and how to make it all work. I wanted LOTS of sunflowers-- and I got tones of sunflowers. It was great to know that I didn't have to worry about flowers, since Barbara and her team would make it all beautiful.
We were SO happy with Fluffy Thoughts! Lara is a sweet heart, and cake tasting turned out the be our favorite part of the planning process. It was a lot of fun to be able to put just the kind of cake flavors and look that we wanted together. We used the cake topper from my husbands parents wedding 44 years ago, and then put a copy of a photo with them cutting their cake next to it. The cake was beautiful, tasted great and arrived on time set up just like we had hoped. We already are looking forward to our 1 year "mini" cake...yummmmm...
I live in DC but used to live in Denver, so I got my dress there while shopping with friends. I was SO happy with the dress, and the service that Bea's provided. They never pushed or rushed me and it felt comfortable to shop for my wedding dress even though I had initially been very stressed about the process. I ended up choosing a dress that was even less then I had thought I would have to pay, and yet it looked even more expensive then the $5000+ dresses I had tried on at other stores. They shipped my dress to me on time and the quality was even better then I thought it would be. Every detail was exquisite and I only wish I could wear it again...
Bialeks was WONDERFUL to work with. I can't say enough wonderful things about the owner and staff there!
We had Dan as our DJ from Bialeks and overall he was great. Super sweet -- and answered all of our questions, which we had a lot of. We were worried about having a DJ instead of a band-- since we have been to some weddings where the DJ just wasn't good-- but Dan was great. SO many of our guests have told us that the music and dancing were their favorite part of our reception. Dan knew what to pay when, and made sure there wasn't a "lull" or part where no one was dancing. I hadn't planned to be on the dance floor as much as I was...but that's where our guests were, so we were!
They are a bit high in cost, but if you want to make sure you have good music, professional staff, and know that you'll have a good DJ that can think on his feet, then I'd recommend Dan at Bialeks.
We were pretty happy with using Paper Source to do our invitations. They were letter press; however, they didn't feel as nice as the ones we looked at in the book. The paper quality didn't seem to be as soft or and nicely pressed. We added Hebrew on our invitations, and there was a mistake that we caught during the proofing process. We didn't pay extra to have our address put on the back, and in retrospect that was a mistake. We should have just paid the extra amount and done that, since stamping the back took a lot more time than was necessary. It was an overall easy process and they did arrive in time with the proof changes we had made. I might have worked with a smaller company if I had it to do again.
We were really happy with our limo, driver and quality of service that Fleet provided. We used a limo and it was clean and the driver was quite helpful and friendly. They arrived on time and we had no problems booking. My friend used them for her wedding a few months before us, so I booked them for my wedding and am very happy that I did.

Book Jan for your wedding now! Do not shop around, do not do a million trials, do not stress about how your makeup will look on your wedding day...just book Jan and know that EVERYTHING about your makeup will be even more amazing then you ever thought it could be. She is one of the very best choices I made for my wedding and I know that any bride who is lucky enough to get Jan for their wedding is blessed. She has a warmth about her that spreads from the trial (which she comes to your house for-- how wonderful is that!) to the room that you are getting ready in, and into your big day! We took pictures at 2pm, the ceremony didn't start until 5pm, we danced until 11pm and my makeup held up the whole time. I never knew my face could look so natural and beautiful...I only wish I could have Jan do my makeup everyday... she is a true gem.
Jay Feder was a dream come true! My husband designed my engagement ring with them, picked out a custom wedding band and I designed his wedding band all with Jay Feder Jewelers. Even though we live in Washington, DC we trusted Celia Feder to take care of us and she did. Celia along with her team was wonderful from day one and we feel blessed that they were a part of such an important part of our engagement and marriage.
I was a bride who wasn't sure if she needed a "day of planner..." boy am I happy my fianc? (now husband) insisted on it! I thought: "I've done all this work, made sure that everything is planned and in order...why do I need to spend more money on a day person when it should just go as I've planned it." Well... the #1 reason: SO I COULD JUST BE THE BRIDE!!! And, that is a really great reason.
Even though I had hired wonderful venders, set up a day of schedule that would insure the day ran smoothly and had wonderful friends to help-- there is nothing like hiring and knowing that you have a professional to pick up any pieces and insure that I could know that thing were being taken care of. It meant that I wasn't making calls and checking in on things--instead I could become calm and enjoy my wedding day.
I worked with Rebecca from Wish. Highlights about Rebecca include: 1. VERY responsive (if I could give her higher then a 5 I would). She e-mailed me back within a hour most times, and never hesitated to go above and beyond here "official" day of responsibilities-- even attending a pre-wedding walk through with our florist and ceremony site months before our wedding.
2. Super Motivated-- you can just tell that she loves planning, brides, and the whole process around weddings. Although new to wedding planning, she is always learning and researching new things to pass on to her brides.
3. Flexible-- About a week before my rehearsal dinner, I decided that I needed an extra pair of hands to help with the coordination of the dinner (we had all 160 of our guests at the "night before dinner") and Rebecca put aside her Saturday night plans and offered to work for us that night (at SUCH a reasonable price). And then, when I just couldn't handle getting flowers for the "night before dinner", she bought the flowers and arranged them BEAUTIFLY that day! I had hit my "full" point, and Rebecca stepped in and made sure that the tables looked beautiful and I could enjoy the night with friends and family.
If you are wondering about hiring a day of planner... don't wonder, just hire one. You'll be SO happy you did! My wedding never would have been as wonderful without Rebecca from Wish!
