Island Palms Hotel and Marina is an absolutely beautiful backdrop for any occasion, but especially for a wedding. They have two gardens and a marina where you can have your special event. However, I had always dreamed of having my wedding on a beach and Martha, the event planner in charge of our wedding, made that happen. Martha was such a great help in planning our event from so far away (we live in Cincinnati, Ohio). She did such a great job and was always very accommodating and responded quickly to my e-mails and calls. The cost of the wedding was pretty reasonable considering all that it included. It was kind of difficult to meet the food and beverage minimum, but the staff was very helpful in trying to help us meet that number (although we still didn't!). Part of the problem was that we did not have as many guests as originally anticipated. The only things that could have gone better were the ceremony music (I think there was a bit of miscommunication as to who was supposed to set up the CD player) and coordination of the reception (my husband and I are vegetarians, which made the order a little more complicated AND the event was running behind because of the issues with the ceremony music). Other than those two things, everything was a dream come true. Thank you Island Palms for making our special day absolutely wonderful! I would recommend this venue highly to anyone for their wedding.
I had boudoir photographs done at Columbus Boudoir as a wedding gift for my husband. He absolutely LOVES them. I can't think of a better gift to give your husband on your wedding day, anniversary or any other special occasion. I would definitely consider doing this again and have already recommended it to several of my friends. It was such a fun experience and was as much of a gift for me as it was for him--it really made me feel beautiful and his response made me feel even sexier! What a fun time and great gift. Also, Heather, did such an excellent job directing me and putting me at ease. She is a real gem. Her personality is great and so is her work.
First Dance Photography was everything I had hoped for and more. Their prices are absolutely GREAT, Vince was a DREAM as our photographer, and everything turned out absolutely perfect. I got most of my ideas for the photographs I wanted taken at our wedding from First Dance Photography's website and Vince made sure all the shots I wanted got taken. He even remembered to take shots I forgot I wanted (that happens on your wedding day...you become surprisingly forgetful!)! Vince truly was everything we had hoped for and more in a photographer. When something was spilled on my dress right before the ceremony, he was so calm and convinced me that you couldn't even see it! He is such a pro and you can tell he's had a lot of experience with weddings. He made our special day so great and didn't complain once about the heat or the humidity even though he was wearing black. He's amazing and I would recommend him to anyone!
We first had a disaster experience with finding flowers. Everyone kept telling me they couldn't find blue irises for my wedding, which was in July. Blue irises had been my dream flower since I had started planning the wedding. I had to have them. Finally, the event coordinator from the hotel we were having our reception at recommended Nancy at Point Loma. I never had a moment of worry or frustration from that point on. Nancy was so professional and promised that she would make my flowers exactly what I wanted. And she did it all for a GREAT price. I was so amazed. After having worked with another florist that was not accommodating or helpful like Nancy, working with Point Loma was a real breath of fresh air. The flowers were PERFECT and absolutely beautiful. I couldn't have asked for more. They lasted the whole day even though it was absolutely sweltering outside. I would recommend Point Loma Village Florist to anyone I know. You will NOT be disappointed.
Let me first start by saying that our wedding cake was the most delicious I have ever had. James helped us to pick out the perfect flavors and made the cake look absolutely beautiful. We got our cake through a package with the venue we used for our wedding and reception, so that made the value for the price even better. Only certain cakes were offered with the package, but James made it easy for us to upgrade for a VERY reasonable cost. So we ended up having exactly what we wanted. We chose a wonderful raspberry champagne flavor for our bottom tier and red velvet for our top tier and anniversary cake. James helped us to pick a flavor that would freeze best and be good for us in a year, which was very helpful. The guests at our wedding could not stop commenting on the cake and how great it was. I have never heard people compliment wedding cake like that before. Also, James was so friendly and easy to talk to. I think we talked with him for about an hour after picking out our cake! The experience was absolutely wonderful and if we ever need a cake for a special occasion again, I know we will go to Flour Power.
My wedding dress was absolutely PERFECT thanks to Jean. She is SO wonderful and a real diamond in the rough. I doubt I ever would have found her if it weren't for Fabulous Bridal, given that her little shop is hidden away in Florence, Kentucky. But I'm so glad I found her. My wedding would not have been the same without her help on the dress. My dress was a little tattered when I got it because it was SO on sale. The zipper was broken and there were little signs of wear and tear everywhere from the dress being tried on so many times. But Jean fixed everything and made the dress BEAUTIFUL. I got so many compliments on how unique it was, how beautiful it was, and how perfectly it fit me. Jean also gives the best compliments and is SO sweet. I absolutely love her. I took my dress back to her to be preserved and cleaned because she did such a wonderful job with the alterations and cleaning before the wedding. I must admit that there were times I freaked out a little because she wasn't there when I showed up with the dress or had to move our appointments or push back the date the dress would be ready, but it was SO worth it. The finished product was perfect and I had the dress in time. Plus, the price was GREAT and Jean's personality makes up for any inconvenience. She is so wonderful. I will highly recommend her to friends and family in the future.
I found my perfect dress at Fabulous Bridal! The staff was oh-so-helpful and friendly and helped me out beyond expectation. I found my dress and accessories on my first visit and had everything out of the way. It was great! Kayte was my bridal consultant and first helped me to find a beautiful and unique dress, then recommended the perfect sash to dress it up. To make things even better, the dress was on sale for 75% off! I strongly recommend going during one of their big sales (I think they have them about 4 times a year). Even though some of the dresses are what I would call "left over," there are also some REALLY beautiful dresses. Also, I got my veil on sale for 75% off, making a fabulous designer veil about $200! The staff are all very helpful and ready to help you at the drop of a pin. They love to dote over you and tell you how beautiful you are no matter what dress you put on (although they will tell you when they REALLY love a particular one). They also recommended a WONDERFUL seamstress to alter the dress. The only thing that wasn't absolutely perfect was that my sash took longer than expected to get in and I had a bit of a time getting someone to call me back when I called about it. However, it was in with plenty of time to spare, so I really can't complain!
What can I say about Rev. Tuttle? Other than that he made our wedding day absolutely perfect. Working with him was SO easy and he made our ceremony what we had always dreamed of. His mix of humor and traditional wedding elements make him so awesome. Our family and friends laughed, cried and couldn't stop talking about how great he was. He fit our personalities to a T and I would recommend him HIGHLY to anyone. He is so sweet and really has the couple's true interests at heart. He truly is the best officiant you could hope for!
