We used La Venta Inn only for the reception (you can be married there as well) but it was an exquisitely beautiful venue with an incredible staff.
I had the luck to work with Tim Kennedy as my wedding coordinator and he was fantastic. Nothing was too difficult or too demanding for Tim. He went out of his way to help me with my planning, and made my job very easy as I did not use a wedding planner but did everything myself.
He had great ideas, was extremely flexible in terms of working with me as to how I wanted the event to run, never made me feel like I was asking too much, and guided me in certain areas where I was unsure of what I wanted.
We worked together over a 5 month period and he was always responsive to my needs. I felt he went above and beyond what most venue coordinators would do. He made me feel like mine was the only wedding he was working on.
The venue itself was fantastic. The staff all the way around (the catering department, the office staff, the servers & bartenders) was exceptionally professional and made the evening run perfectly and smoothly. I never felt rushed and although the word is that your night goes by too quickly, that was an understatement - the night could have gone on forever.
In terms of the menu, we had the luck of meeting with the chef who worked with us on choosing a menu that combined choices from a few different options. The food and our wedding cake were delicious and the presentation was excellent.
The wait staff was incredibly attentive, my wine glass was never empty and they took great care of me and my groom making sure we were served first among the guests.
I got more compliments from my guests about how beautiful and professional and fabulously fun my wedding was and I owe a great deal of that to Tim Kennedy and the staff of La Venta Inn.
Mark Bennington has just begun to venture into the world of wedding photography and if you can get him, do so.
His style is more photojournalistic (which is why I chose him) and he worked with me not only for the weddng (including preparing for it with my bridesmaids), but also our July 4th Get-to-Know-Each-Other party for our out of town guests and those people we couldn't invite to the wedding.
He took hundreds of photos - so many that I'm having a hard time choosing which ones to use in my wedding book. My guests loved him, he made me feel beautiful (and look good too) and he was respectful of our guests, getting great photos without being obtrusive.
Check out his website for more than just wedding photography but I would recommend him to anyone looking for a more adventuresome, less stuffy, type of wedding photography. He will be adding his wedding picture portfolio soon but you can see how great he is at capturing the essence of his subjects.
Tom Worthy and Bixby Knolls Florists were a terrific florist for my wedding. I did a tremendous amount of research as to what I wanted before I chose my florist and one of the things I loved the most about Tom was that he took my ideas and made them better.
During our many visits together he was always jumping up to show me a flower he thought would go with my design and gave me ideas about flowers that I didn't even know existed. He worked with me to create a beautiful bridal bouquet and adorable bridesmaids bouquets, along with the boutonnieres and flowers for my wedding party.
He worked with me over 6 months to fine tune my choices, made a sample centerpiece for me and adjusted it perfectly to meet my requests.
He and his team transformed an already beautiful La Venta Inn into a tropical paradise with foliage, seashells, candles and flowers. People were fighting over who would take home the centerpieces.
His design partner, Mark, worked with me to create a fabulous wedding seating chart that now has a special place in our kitchen. He was even willing to work with me on a holiday to be sure he did exactly what I wanted.
I highly recommend Tom and hope to have another event soon so that I can hire him again.
I was fortunate to locate this bridal shop as I was new to the area where I needed to find my dress. I had actually tried my dress on at another shop that was farther away and although Mary Me Bridal did not have the exact dress I wanted, they carried the line I wanted and were able to order my dress for me.
Their selection was excellent and although I ended up choosing one that I had originally found at another salon, there were A LOT of dresses that I could have as easily chosen from. The selection was also ranged in a way that I found something I loved and could afford.
The staff were very friendly, professional, and helpful.
My dress arrived within plenty of time for alterations and the staff worked with me quickly to make the minor adjustments needed to my dress.
I also ordered my bridesmaids dresses from Mary Me Bridal as well as purchased my jewelry from the Salon. I discovered too late about their great shoe collection (I didn't focus on my shoes until it was too late to have them specially ordered) but again, they had a great range to choose from.
I have to give Peter Papadopolous of Vive Entertainment RAVE reviews.
Peter was a masterful master of ceremonies. He helped to keep me calm before & during the wedding, and provided me with an incredible music library to choose from. He took as long as was needed to help me choose my music, gave me great ideas for song choices, and was very patient with me. He responded in a timely manner to my calls and reassured me when I got flustered as the wedding drew near. We spent 3 hours going through just a portion of his music library and when he didn't have something in his library, he found it for me and added it to his collection as well.
During the wedding he was the highest of professionals, incorporated all of my requests in terms of what to say and how to keep the evening running smoothly. He worked closely and successfully with my wedding coordinator and their teamwork made the evening go by so quickly we needed at least 5 more hours! Very importantly, he was respectful of my wishes not to play certain songs and also was willing to play music that my stepchildren requested by accessing them immediately even when they weren't on my playlist.
He had a great sense of humor and knew how to improvise with my guests. He also incorporated our desire to have Greek dancing to start off the dancing.
I was smart enough to book him way in advance as he has a very busy schedule and I know why.
Needless to say, I found his services to be exceptional and when the opportunity arises again, I will absolutely hire him.
