Wow! I just have to say that a year before I even got engaged, I knew I was going to get married at the Tremont Grand. I had gone to their annual My Day Magazine bridal event with some friends, and I instantly fell in love with all the beautiful rooms. My fiance and I actually booked the rooms we wanted several months before we even got engaged. We booked three rooms - The Doric room for the ceremony, the Oriental Room for the cocktail hour, and the breathtaking Edinburgh Hall for the reception. I couldn't have been happier! All of my guests have told me that this is the most fun wedding they've ever been too. I have to thank Lauren, who was my wedding coordinator, for keeping everything running so smoothly. She was such a pleasure to work with. We were going through a lot of the same things together because she got married a few weeks after I did, and we've exchanged pictures as well. The food and beverages were amazing, and I also have to thank the reception service staff. They were excellent, and always there getting you anything you needed.
My one small complaint is in regards to the Tremont Plaza which is where my guests and I stayed the night of the wedding, and where I also stayed the night before. When my husband and I got back up to the suite (same one I had stayed in the night before with my bridesmaids), we found that the room had not been cleaned, the beds weren't made, the dirty dishes were still on the table from breakfast that morning, and the dirty towels were still all over the bathroom. It didn't feel like a honeymoon suite at all. I knew that they hadn't cleaned anything. We had housekeeping come to the room that day, and we told them that we would be moving to the bridal suite in the Tremont Grand at 2:00. I expected them to come back and clean the room, but nobody ever did. We just found a pile of clean towels on the table in the living area.
My advice, if you get married in the Tremont Grand, it's beautiful and I can't say enough wonderful things about it or the lovely staff there. If you're staying in the adjacent Tremont Plaza Hotel the night before your big event, make sure you tell them several times that you want the room cleaned after a certain time.
To Lauren, and the rest of the wonderful staff at the Grand, thank you from the bottom of my heart! You all made this event such a special day for me and my husband.
I had probably spent many many hours looking on theknot.com for pictures of flower arrangements that were pretty, but not too complicated. I found what I was looking for and I took the pictures into Janda florist to see if they could duplicate what I wanted. When the flowers arrived that day I couldn't believe how beautiful they were! Everything looked just like what I had showed them, and even the large arrangements for the ceremony site were gorgeous. I couldn't have been happier.
Not only was the cake beautiful, but I've been told by guests of mine who have been to many weddings, that it was delicious as well! Usually you find a case where the cake looks really good, then you take a bite of it, and it's dry or tasteless. This is NOT the case with Sugarbakers. The cake was awesome, and we couldn't have been happier. Thanks!!!
I LOVED our DJ, Donna Hardesty! This is my second wedding, and I had booked her before, so I already knew she'd be great. Vickie Preston was also very nice to work with. I had actually gotten to meet her about a month before the wedding at a bridal event in Baltimore in my actual venue, The Tremont Grand. I had also booked a trio consisting of a violin, cello, and a flute, to play for the ceremony and cocktail hour. They were amazing as well. Donna kept the evening going with great music, and she really kept everything on track. I can't thank her enough!
My situation, and how I found Alex was a little unique. My fiance and I had initially booked a company to do both the photography and videography. I found out about a month before the wedding, that our photographer no longer shoots for this company. Luckily, she owns her own photography business and we were able to hire her directly. That left us very concerned about who we would get for our videographer because we still had not received a name or contact information from this company. We decided to break the contract, and go searching for a new videographer approximately 2 weeks prior to the wedding.
After seaching aimlessly on the internet, I came across a website for Baltimore videographers. I started looking through their work, and came up with a handful that I liked. I have to say that for me, Alex's work really stood out (and they were all very good). We liked the different effects he used in the samples we saw, and he was very responsive when I contacted him for what I viewed as an emergency.
Before, during, and after the wedding, we hardly noticed him moving from place to place to get the right angle for the perfect video, which is what we wanted. He was extremely professional, and he really listened to us when we explained what we liked and what we were looking for.
When we got the finished product, we were amazed at how beautifully it was done. We've only had it for a week, but we've watched it at least 3-4 times with friends and family, and it never gets old. We were also able to get 4 copies of our video so we could share them with family. I would HIGHLY recommend Alex as a videographer, and I'm so glad he was able to be a part of our special day!
We got our invitations and our ceremony programs from Papyrus in Towsontown Center. They were very nice and professional. They took the time to sit down with us and go over exactly how we wanted everything to look, and the finished products were beautiful.
The only time I had a problem was when I faxed back the signed proof so they could place the order. They claim they never got it, which is possible because faxes aren't perfect, but I never received a phone call to let me know. The time just kept passing until I finally called them to see if the invitations were in yet. Then they told me that they hadn't even placed the order because the never received the signed approval.
Everything came in on time, so I can't complain too much, but I would advise staying on top of things just to make sure you get what you ordered on time.
