This barn MADE our wedding! It is gorgeous inside and out including the grounds. Very little decorating is necessary because the place is a work of art and has so many small details that really fell into our country casual/barn formal wedding theme. It's very martha stewart! If you're looking for a formal event with elaborate elegance, this may not be the place to implement those ideas--it's just not a mesh of themes. For us, it's exactly what we wanted. Amy and Kirby are very talented artists and designers and extremely kind. We had a little snaphoo with booking, but once that was worked out, everything went very smoothly. Make sure that you read the contract fully to understand what is included in the price. For example, we had to turn on the heaters and also used the grounds for our cocktail hour...these were additional charges that I overlooked. There is another older barn on the property that lent itself perfectly for photos. Parking lot is all grass..not sure how that would work if it was raining...luckily we had a beautiful day. The other nice thing is that you can bring in all your vendors which is a huge money saver on things like alcohol. One suggestion I would make is to hire a day-of coordinator to receive and orgainze all your vendors (band, caterer, etc) as this is not a service that is provided. This place goes like hot cakes. If you think this is the venue you want and they have an open date, BOOK IT, because it likely won't be available days later.
Wow...where do I start with these folks?!? They are first and foremost extremely humble and talented photographers and in a close second a TON of fun to be around. Chad and Tressie came as a recommendation from my mother-in-law and the second that I saw their website I knew they were for me. We did some engagement shots with them which was an awesome opportunity to get comfortable with the idea of a photo shoot before the wedding. We continue to get compliments on those pictures. Our wedding photos are the best I could have ever imagined. They captured the funniest and most sincere moments of the day and captured the emotions that were drummed up in all the important moments. The travelled from Abilene Tx to St. Joseph Mi--we paid for their car, airfare and hotel plus an extra night in chicago as a bonus. All of this was WELL under what any photographer would charge--we looked at photographers who produced similar work and they run EASILY 3-6k PLUS travel reimbursement. You can tell they love what they do. Chad is the artist and Tressie calls the shots on the day of--they are a great team! We look forward to getting these guys out to shoot more photos as our family grows! We would (and have been) recommending these photographers to anyone! You'll feel like your photographers are just friends that you invited to the wedding....who happen to be incredibly talented photographers.
Yum! We went with a small and basic white on white cake that was beautifully done in the end! The tasting of course was wonderful and she has photos of amazing things she's done in the past. Very elaborate things are possible! SHe worked with me on budget to keep me where I needed to be. We also had some chocolate chip cookies done by her which were a hit! Very highly recommended.
Montage played at our barn wedding reception and really rocked the roof off. From the very beginning when I spoke with Kurt on the phone I knew he was going to provide excellent entertainment for our casual wedding. They are very reasonably priced and travelled without any additional charge. He worked with me to get the sound system running inside and out--it worked flawlessly. From the first dance to the last dance, the dance floor was PACKED and i mean that sincerely. The whole night and afterwards people were raving about the band. The time in between songs is literally non-existant. I dont know where they find the energy, but they really read the crowd and knew that we were ready to dance to fast songs as opposed to the slower ones. My favorite part of possibly my whole wedding reception was my cowbell solo--I can't thank them enough for giving me center stage and letting me feel like a rockstar bride. Everything was very personal! My dad, who loves live music, especially oldies, was having a blast. It was so great to see them appealing to all generations present with songs like "run around sue", "brown eyed girl", "brick house", and "sexy back". Would recommend these folks to anyone!
Stella Event Design saved my sanity! There were parts of my wedding that I really wanted to have control over and othe parts that didn't matter to me at all. Jessica at Stella Event Design was able to accomodate me with a "partial planning" package that fit perfectly with my needs. She is quick to respond to emails and phone calls and is flexible with times to meet in person. She is very familiar with the local area and its vendors and helped me stay on budget. When it comes to above and beyond, Jessica was awesome. She returned all of my rented items for me the next day as well as my alcohol that we didn't use. I ordered wholesale flowers and she was able to put them together to create my centerpieces and they looked beautiful. I really can't rave about her enough. She's calm in chaos, super organized, and obviously loves her job! I would recommend her service to anyone.
