It was great to have a Catering Director at my reception venue so I didn't have to deal with the added hassle of bringing in an outside caterer. The person I worked with was detailed and appreciated my attention to detail. He was easy to work with and helped me come up with an overall look for the evening. Included in the package was personalized menu cards, sparklers for my guests to light as my husband and I departed for the evening, etc. The food was outstanding--very impressive! The club house overlooks a beautiful golf course. I wanted a venue that already had charm and ambiance so I didn't have to spend a lot of time decorating and bringing in "stuff" to make it look nice. I got exactly what I wanted.
My only complaint would be the staff during my wedding reception--they cleared the tables way too fast...and while they were clearing, they cleared away many of my favor boxes. I still get upset about it, even to this day! There was also a member on the management staff that night who was very rude to my friends. She gave them a lot of attitude for no reason at all. It was very uncalled for.
Other than those things, I loved Dominion Club and if I had the chance to do it again, I would choose them. They aren't cheap, but you pay for quality in this case.
Being a bride is stressful and the photographs are what you are going to have left to remember the day after all is said and done. When I found Paige's website I knew I had to have her photograph my wedding. Of course, I kept looking at other photographers in the area too, weighing my options, comparing the prices. Some of the photographers with the lowest rates left a lot to be desired and made me think "I could take that picture. That is nothing special." Some of the highest priced photographers were great and all, but were either way out of my price range or didn't allow flexibility in creating a package. In my gut, I knew Paige was who I wanted!! Her prices were reasonable (in my opinion) and she allowed flexibility. She also met up with me to show me her work and make sure that we were compatible! Throughout the entire process she made me feel very comfortable and she never left me feeling worried, and I can't say the same for a few of my vendors. Another plus was that I didn't have to wait months to see my photographs after the wedding. I think it was maybe 3 weeks? I can't remember exactly, but it wasn't a long time. And the pictures were FABULOUS! I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Not only is Paige a great photographer, but she is one awesome chick too!

Coleman Bros. did an awesome job with my wedding flowers. There was even a last minute issue with getting a certain flower that I had requested and instead of stressing me out, Mimi (the woman I was working with) used her best judgment and made a change and they ended up being even more beautiful than I could have imagined...call it serendipity! I could not stop staring at my flowers and the bridesmaid flowers. It's one of the things I love most about the wedding. I remember sitting at the reception having dinner and just stopping to take everything in. My husband and I couldn't stop commenting on how beautiful the flowers made everything look. I have used Coleman both personally and professionally and I highly recommend them. They are so kind, professional and deliver a very high quality product! Flowers were very important to me and what I ended up with was perfection!!! Okay, they forgot to use a green ribbon wrap on my Maid of Honor's bouquet and used pink like the bridesmaids' bouquets, but I can forgive them for this... :-)
Kara does an excellent job and can make pretty much any type of cake you want! She made a beautiful cake for our wedding, but I was a bit disappointed in the color. I had wanted a darker shade of pink and green on the cake, and even gave her a picture of exactly the colors I wanted and it ended up being way too pastel for my taste. The cake was one of the things that I COULD NOT WAIT to see because I really wanted it to stand out and I was hoping people would oooh and aaah at it. It was a beautiful cake, but it was kind of a let-down when I saw it. Kara is a joy to work with though and she's probably one of the best in Richmond. I just wish I had felt happier about the end result.
I bought my bridesmaid dresses from Tiffany's and the dresses were pretty, the prices were reasonable and there were no problems with the order or the quality. I also bought my veil from them, which I LOVE! I tried on bridal gowns there, but ended up purchasing it elsewhere. The staff could be a little flighty at times, depending on who I was working with that day, but overall I would recommend them. They have a good selection and they aren't snotty like a couple of bridal shops in Richmond.
