Christin was fantastic. She wasn't the first photographer we considered-- we met with two others first, and felt that they weren't quite right. I actually have a close friend who is a wedding photographer herself (but in another state) and she thought, out of all the links I sent her, that Christin's site displayed the best work.

Christin was easy to talk to and very accessible-- I accidentally called once while she was away for the weekend and she answered the phone, and spent a few minutes answering some questions for me. She listened to us talk about our "style" and what we wanted for photographs based on other work she'd done and things we'd seen that we liked, and she definitely incorporated that into the wedding day photos. She also took individual shots of many of the guests at our 130+ person wedding, which was really nice because a lot of people came up to us afterwards and expressed gratitude that there were such nice photos of themselves and their families! She really captured the character and personality of people, too, which really makes all the difference-- it puts a smile on my face to see photos of my guests having a grand old time in the way only those quirky characters can ;)

Of course, as a bride you hardly notice half of what happens on the wedding day, but Christin and her assistant were invisible to me... they caught all the action without being in my face. Christin also made a little slideshow of some of the pictures on her laptop and set it up for guests to see-- it wasn't something we paid for, but I mentioned that I liked the idea and so she went ahead and set it up unexpectedly. Also, her assistant, who was scheduled and paid to stay until 5, was still there snapping photos until about 7, with no extra charge! I don't know why she stayed, but I appreciated that sort of service.

At the end of the day, everything happens so fast that you miss a good deal of it while you're walking around looking pretty and talking to everyone. I feel so grateful that we got a talented, receptive and skilled photographer so that I can look back and relive the day. I don't even regret the fact that we didn't have a videographer.

I chose Jess as our florist for two reasons-- she was on the recommended vendors list for our venue (The Crane Estate in Ipswich, MA) and because she had incredible skill in envisioning and creating beautiful and UNIQUE arrangements. She had done weddings at our venue before, and she was very knowledgable of what sorts of accents and decorations would work well beyond simply table arrangement and bridesmaids' bouquets.

It's important for me to note that I did not tell Jess exactly what we wanted. Rather, I described a variety of things that looked nice to me, what sort of textures and basic colors and styles I liked, and let her choose the rest. I could tell very early on that Jess was a true expert, and I figured it was her job and not mine to know what flowers in what colors would work best-- that's where her talent lies, and I'm not a florist for a reason, haha! So I let her pick the exact flowers, colors and arrangements based on basically what sorts of things I liked. I had no idea what the flowers would actually look like until the day of the wedding, but when they arrived they were PERFECT-- different, textured, layered, and all varied (I wanted each table arrangement, bridesmaid's bouquet, and boutonniere to be slightly different from the others). My bouquet was gorgeous and held up beautifully even without paying for preservation services after the wedding-- it's in fabulous condition dried and sits in a low vase on my dining room table.

Jess was very accessible-- I drove out to meet with her three times, at least, and when I inevitably got lost she was kind enough to give me directions over the phone... twice. She was very passionate and excited about the ideas that I had, which made me feel really good about knowing I could just turn it over to her and it would turn out fabulous.

The only minor problem we had-- the vases on the tables ran out of water quickly. Jess says this was due to the wind (and of course, we were by the ocean, which makes a windy day twice as bad) so some of the flowers were a bit wilted by the end of the night. I'd just keep an eye on that, no matter what florist you use.

Her prices are a *bit* on the higher end, but you're paying for quality. I've been to weddings where the florist wasn't high up on the list in terms of prioritizing funds, and it really shows. I've had guests come up to me even now, almost 6 months later, to comment on how beautiful the wedding was, and they always highlight the unique and elegant centerpiece flowers :) It's worth it, and if you're on the fence about the cost then talk to her... you're better off minimizing the number of floral arrangements but having well-crafted ones than you are paying for essentially grocery-store flowers and having lots of them all over. It really makes a difference. When looking at what I paid for her services, I want to highlight that my costs are VERY high due to having three flower girls, eight bridesmaids, eight groomsmen, plus flowers for my mom and aunt, a chuppah, and a bunch of decorative vines and floral arrangements around.

All in all, Jess was fantastic and I recommend her to anyone :)
