For our reception venue, we were looking for a large room with good floors for dancing and we found it at the new Phillips Event Center. My sister got married the DAY BEFORE ME (I know, crazy) and so we had a joint wedding reception after my ceremony. So we needed a place big enough for dinner and dancing for 400 people. The Phillips has a good sized patio where we put the food in a buffet line (part of it is covered). We also had the option of renting a large white tent if we wanted to cover the entire patio, but we decided to just used the covered portion of the porch since we figured not many people would want to mingle in the heat outside.
The ballroom is simple but beautiful, with sparkling wood floors and pretty lighting. They have a large kitchen for your caterer and nice restrooms for your guests.
Go to their website to see some great photos of the venue. The person we worked with was friendly but sometimes hard to get a hold of. You just have to be on top of things and assertive to get the job done (like maybe calling more than once to get a question answered). But overall we were very pleased and it turned out to be exactly what we were looking for.

This is a beautiful church on the UT campus. The sancuary features a balcony with incredible stained glass windows in the back (a great place for photographers to shoot from during the ceremony), and a large cross shouldered by organ pipes on each side at the front. It has deep red carpet, traditional wooden pews, and white arches with stained glass windows on the sides of the sancuary.

Book ahead with this church if you want to get your date and time for both your ceremony and reception as dates fill up fast! The wedding lady we worked with was wonderful, friendly, and fairly easy to get in contact with.

The groomsmen loved their "dressing room," which was the basement youth room complete with pool tables! The ladies room was large with several mirrors and windows.

They also have candelabras to rent for $50 which I would recommend as they really add to the view during the ceremony.

We were very pleased to finally find a caterer who would do exactly what we wanted for the price we needed. We were planning on a large reception of 350 guests, and so we needed to find an affordable but delicious caterer. After the tasting at our first meeting, we knew we wanted to go with In Good Taste. They customized our menu and also incorporated our wedding colors and styles into the design for the food and buffet tables.

Our menu was:

Spinach Salad with Strawberries
Chicken Breasts Stuffed with Goat Cheese and Sun-dried Tomatoes
Tuscan-Style Salmon
Tortellini Salad with Sun-dried Tomato Pesto
Roasted Vegetables
Selected Breads
Iced Tea and Water

We received so many compliments about the food at the reception! I thought the stuffed chicken and the tortellini salad were especially good. They of course do many different types of foods and menus. Highly recommended.

Since my husband is not a big cake fan, we decided to go with cheesecake for our wedding cake, though we knew it might be a little more expensive. We were very pleased with the Ultimate Cheesecake Bakery and I would highly reccommend them! The contact information I gave is for the lady who decorated our cheesecake wedding cake, which looked like a traditional wedding cake (three tiers with white icing and decorations), but was cheesecake inside! Since we had a big guest list, we had a smallish wedding cake with six large sheet cheesecakes of various flavors and they were a huge hit! They cut the squares such that there was enough for people to try several different kinds. Go to their website for pictures and descriptions of all of their different flavors! They even let us modify a flavor by adding fresh strawberries to it. We froze a large piece of our wedding cake and it tasted better than ever on our one year anniversary!

Note: The bakery we used was in the Brodie Oaks shopping center, S. Lamar and 360. It appears they have moved but they have locations elsewhere in Austin.

We used Men's Warehouse for our groomsmen, fathers, and ringbearer tuxes and were very pleased with their selection and flexibility. We had a complicated situation but they worked with us to figure out the best solution and gave us a good deal (my sister got married to our best man the day before us, and we had many of the same groomsmen in our wedding parties who would be wearing the same tux, so some needed one tux but two vests/ties of different colors!). All our guys looked so handsome!

I bought my bridal gown, my bridesmaids' dresses, and my flower girls' sashes from David's Bridal.

I had seven things on my list that I wanted in my bridal gown, and after searching the city for weeks, I finally found ALL of them on a gown at David's Bridal! I always had good service there, and the lady who helped me find my gown knew just what I was looking for. I was so excited! I rated the value for cost as only 4 stars because I think wedding gowns are very over priced in general, and David's Bridal is not designer dresses, but I was still satisfied with the quality of my gown. Some of the gowns felt like they were made of cheaper material but looked great in the pictures, so make sure you TRY ON your gown before buying - you MUST feel the material first! David's Bridal also perserved my gown after the wedding and I hope to someday wear it again for an anniversary.

I also LOVED my bridesmaids dresses that I found at David's Bridal. It was a dress that looked good on all shapes and sizes as my bridesmaids were. And because they have stores accross the US, my bridesmaids in other cities were able to get the exact match at their closest store.
