The club is absolutely gorgeous! One of the best places to have a great wedding party - we had our ceremony outside and then brought it inside for cocktail hour and reception time. It had an adjacent patio so that guests who smoke aren't too far and still part of the party. The bar was huge and awesome - plenty of room to host our desert table/chocolate fountain, dance floor, 17 tables, photo booth, cigar bar etc...it was so beautiful and just perfect. Andy (food/catering manager) was amazing the day of - making sure everything was done right and calming me down when my linen vendor was not there when they were supposed to be (see Creative Designs review). Kendall was very sweet and pretty accommodating as well. I would definitely recommend this venue and their whole team as it was a picture perfect place to host my special day.
Abby is simply amazing. I don't think words can express just how great of a photographer she is. Her pictures are truly one of a kind and beautiful. She runs through the wedding pictures with great ease and is extremely professional. She takes the traditional pictures that your parents probably want and the unique "artsy" ones you probably want. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NO ONE USE HER! I specifically did not list her phone number and email address so that no one would ever call her or email her. I did list her website so that you would steer clear of her and her shoddy business. I found her last minute when I needed chair covers and linens for my wedding and thought she seemed odd but pleasant enough to get the job done. She was very concerned about setting up very early for the wedding so she would be done on time, so I arranged for her to get there at 8am. The day before the wedding she tells me she'll get there at 10am which I was okay with because that gave her 4 hours to complete from 10am-2pm so the florist who was arriving at 2pm could get their job done. The day of my wedding she tells me she'll get there at 11am, then later she states 1pm. Then when I get to my venue at 3pm the staff at OakPointe Country Club (which is amazing) states she did not arrive until 2pm!!! She was supposed to be done at 2pm. Not only that, but only the linens were there - no chair covers. Mind you, I was not a bridezilla but this made me almost burst out into tears because she did not have anything done and was not even at the venue. I, meanwhile, help set up my own tables with crystals etc that I wanted and its now 4pm and still no Christina. I was very upset - she definitely ruined my preparation time to calm down, drink some champagne and chill out. At 4pm myself and my bridesmaids go outside to take pictures since the ceremony was to begin at 5:30pm - still no Christina or chair covers. At about 5pm - from what I'm told, I'm staying far away because it makes me want to cry - she arrives and doesn't have enough staff to even complete the job. My venue - OakPointe Country Club had 10 of their waitstaff help set up the chair covers to get them done in time. My ceremony was short and sweet and over by 5:45-5:50pm - so when the guests came upstairs for cocktails they had to block off the room with screens because she wasn't done. Meanwhile, she is calling my cell phone and leaving RUDE messages while I'm at the alter getting married. What??? I had paid her in advance a little over $1000 and the balance was about $160-200 and I didn't leave the money since she basically ruined the early part of my wedding for me. She sent one of her staff to my reception to collect money - luckily my Mother in Law ran interference and I never knew and shooed the staff member away and told him the money was in dispute because they did not uphold their end of the bargain. The next morning I wake up - after my wedding night - to nasty text messages from her. These are the messages - mispellings and all: Sept. 13th 9:38am: "U better pay me or you will hear from me" "U were going to be nasty and stab me in the back" "U owe me 264..... did my job and u gpt erything I wanted.....dont u have a conscience...u know i helped u wyth everything"
I proceeded to call her at about 1pm and say something along the lines of "Excuse me, I was sleeping, I did just get married, who do you think you are etc etc?" "You'll get your money if it's disputed and whatnot..." I don't remember exactly what I said but something like that. Then she sends me a text message today. Sept 16th 8:07am "I expect to get my moeny today"
Who do you think you are? What kind of business are you running? Don't ever ruin someone's wedding day.
BEWARE - BEWARE!!! DO NOT USE CHRISTINA HODGESON OF EVENTS BY CREATIVE DESIGN! SHE WILL RUIN YOUR WEDDING AND SEND YOU EVIL TEXT MESSAGES AND BE COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL! DON'T RUIN YOUR DAY!!!!!!
Kim is by far the most amazing person ever! I went to see her and immediately fell in love. She took my small idea and made it grand and gave me fun, new ideas that I would never have thought to do. Her arrangements are amazing and they looked better than I could even imagine. I gave her the theme of white and sparkle and she really did it up right! The day of my wedding when my linen vendor was an absolute disaster she stuck around to give me a pep talk and make me feel better. She even stayed after her flowers were all set up and waited for the linen vendor to come - found me and let me know the linens arrived and that everything would be alright. Kim is just amazing! You absolutely should use her for your wedding or any event for that matter. I would definitely use her again! AMAZING!!! If I can figure out how to post pictures I will so you can see her beautiful handiwork.
Lakes Cakes is a very reasonably priced bakery. While other bakeries were $3.50 and up per slice - Lakes Cakes starts at $2.60 a slice. Other places also charge you additional for design work, Lakes Cakes doesn't. That definitely makes a huge difference in price. The cakes are also delicious...tasted so much better than the designer cakes places that were $3.50-$4 a slice. Heidi was great to work with and when you go to do a cake tasting she has you taste all the cakes and different frostings and fillings -all the other bakeries make you choose 2-3 flavors and don't let you taste them all. She also made the sugar cookie favors that I had at each table setting for all my guests - they were soooo good and nice - big, thick cookies like Cookies By Design, but actually tasted like sugar cookies instead of dry nothingness. Heidi was also really flexible and willing to change designs on the cookies and cake up to a week or two before the wedding and doesn't charge anything. They also came on time as promised which is very important. I would definitely recommend Lakes Cakes to anyone for their wedding or other special event - Birthday, Graduation, Anniversary etc.
