We met at a Movie Theater in Brooklyn, NY. We were in line to see the movie “The Barbershop”. He introduced himself and sparked a conversation. Since our tickets weren’t for the same theater, he convinced me to exchange numbers and catch up after. We never had a chance to meet up that night. However, we did a few days later and spoke every day since.
The Proposal:
He proposed intimately at our apartment. I came home to flowers and dinner. Shortly after he expressed his desire to be with me for the rest of our lives. Followed by THE question…
After a few window shops...and exactly 6 years since they first met, he said “let’s go to the city!”. Once we arrived at the shop, I closed my eyes as he got down on one knee; proceeding to put the ring on my pointer finger–YES. LMAO! Eventually he found the ring finger and the whole store cheered! :-)

Our Planning Experience
Your'e Kidding Right?
Inevitably stressful...sometimes I regret having a big wedding but I think once this is all over I will be glad I had those to share the moment with me. I freak out mostly about the money. I don't want us to be one of those couple who start their marriage with 20k debt. We shall see...
Our Advice
From our experience...
*Only anounce your engagement to those who you plan to invite. It will save you the discomfort of "explaining" later on.
*Have a clear understanding of who is contributing financially and communicate your budget w/ them So they aren't forcing things on you just because they are helping.
*Make an A and B list and STICK to it. Create it waaaaaaay before your venue.
*Most importantly.... this is probably not the first time you heard this but plan to please YOU and your FH, not others... People will tend to force their beliefs and preferences to satisfy themselves.
Great venue to work with. Lots of space. You will never share your day with another bride no matter how many hours you have blocked off. Affordable for the area....even more on Fridays and Sundays! I lived a distance from the venue so I would always pop up when I was in town or call with questions. Ellen always welcomed me and returned my calls in a timely fashion. Since this is an Historic Site, they do not allow red wine. They do however, allow you to use their outside tent for a fee with Loanbrothers. They also have room as an African Art Museum you can rent by the hour.
Great food. Good price. Excellent service. They were the most organized and professional caterers that I have contacted. My event planner was Natalie. She was very down to earth and responsive. I had a million questions for her and she always had an answer. Natalie made sure all of our needs were accommodated and pulled off a very nice reception and layout....my guests truly enjoyed the experience. The staff on the day of was very professional and followed through with everything Natalie planned.
Shannon Evans worked extremely hard on my wedding. She has tremendous work ethic and talent. Shannon maneuvered herself all around my wedding and really captured the day. I look back at my pictures and I cry and laugh...no matter how many times I have seen the pictures. She caught my every emotion gave me so many great pictures to choose from. Shannon was easy to work with and very professional. I definitely look forward to working with her in the future.
For some reason, when it came to flowers, I just could not make up my mind...but Judy was patient and continued to offer suggestions until I was satisfied. In the end, the flowers were so nice! Just what I envisioned! :-) On top of it all, Judy provided what I wanted with in my budget! Most of the florists I spoke with had a hard time even giving me a quote with in budget. Judy had very competitive prices... quality service and beautiful flowers!
This cake is heaven! Guest are still talking about it ....some even have a saved piece in their freezer. They don't want to let go. hahaha. Sugarbakers was easy to work with and provided me with what I asked. After tasting their cake the first time I didn't even care what my cake look like. Lucky for me their designs are great as well. ;-)
Chris is very professional. On time and dressed appropriately. Great DJ and host. He knows how to keep the party going! He traveled from NY for my Baltimore wedding....it was worth it!

I really like this company. I love that you can do everything yourself. You have to double confirm you order. And its affordable. I used this company for my STDs. Unfortunately due to the spacing constraints of the actual invitation, I had to go with another company for that. However, I still enjoyed working with them and plan to use their service in the future.
I love this place. They have a huge selection and their employees really know the meaning of customer service. I never once felt rushed. I had one issue with my order and even though I was willing to let it slide....they didn't (and fixed it immediately).
My husband and I were devastated when our original officicant canceled two weeks prior to our wedding. In search of a replacement, Rev. Laura came highly recommended by two of our vendors. Within very short notice, Rev. Laura quickly relieved our stress and put our mind at ease. She was genuine and professional the entire time. She is full of positive energy and high sprits. We really enjoyed the ceremony and how unique it was to our personality and spiritual level. We also received many compliments from our guests. Without a doubt, Rev. Laura was a main factor in making our day special.
For some reason I always had a hard time getting in contact with someone to start my order. But once I was assigned a sales person, there was no issues with responsiveness. They provided a beautiful tent and their rentals were in good condition.
