I am so glad we used Victoria Banquets. Originally we had chosen their very unique venue in Highwood, as it fit my distinct vision for where I wanted my wedding. That venue unfortunately burned down with 4 months to go before the wedding. My coordinator called me the next day and calmly let me know my options - we could get 100% of our money back (how many venues would TELL you this was an option?! that's integrity!!), we could move our contract to another of the Victoria venues, or we could have them cater offsite. We chose a different Victoria venue (BeauJolie) and they moved our existing contract over, even though the standard prices at BeauJolie are more expensive.
At every turn I felt that the staff truly cared about what we wanted and were willing to deliver only perfection. I received answers the same day that I asked questions (and I asked a LOT of questions). My coordinator even answered her cell if I called her - and calmed me down from an family-related freakout or two regarding payment. They were receptive to my ideas and we changed configurations and timelines a bit as planning progressed, the whole time I felt respected and listened to by the staff.
The day of the wedding I was blown away. The switch from ceremony to reception setup was lightning quick, even with cocktail hour going on simultaneously. The food was AMAZING, the service was prompt and thorough, and the banquet manager checked in with my and my family numerous times. They even gave my groom a steak for his meal because he wanted one - it was not on our menu for the night. The chocolate fountain was a HIT and I have to point out that 15 minutes before the contract end time, all the fixins for the chocolate fountain were still FULL because they would rather provide awesome service than save a few bucks on marshmallows and strawberries that will go uneaten.
One of my bridesmaids wants to get married there now. Victoria Banquets is a first class company with the best staff. Victoria BeauJolie is a beautiful, romantic venue. I am SO satisfied with my experience!
Gina and her team are phenomenal - they are extremely unobtrusive and never get in the way of guests but they capture everything. They checked in with me throughout the reception to see if I had specific requests. They are fun and calming. They shoot weddings every weekend so the little things that frazzle a bride are totally commonplace for them, Gina has calmed me down on more than one occasion. We purchased the most comprehensive package Imaginative Studios offers (we wanted a 12x12 album for us and an 8x8 for each set of parents), and that package has more hours than we needed so we still have an hour of time we have not used. Gina does not give us a time limit for when that must be redeemed. We might use it for a 1 year anniversary photo shoot, or a maternity shoot in a few more years. The point is, she is happy to let us decide.
Kathy was recommended by the folks at Victoria Banquets. She is an adorable little lady who loves what she does and has friends and family assist her on the day of. The flowers she provided were gorgeous and exactly what I asked for and better than I imagined. In fact I just got back from my mini-honeymoon and the centerpiece from the entry table is still fragrant and beautiful, and I haven't watered it! Her prices are extremely reasonable. There was one problem area and I knew this going in - she's basically a one woman show and not a commercial outfit. So, right after the ceremony, her team of helpers came in to take the chuppah down, and they were dressed in gym shorts and T shirts. Also, Kathy is NOT technologically savvy. You're better off sending inspiration pics in the mail versus over email as she JUST got email and I am not sure she knows how to check it. If you are OK with her more casual approach, I highly recommend her work.
We decided fairly last minute that we needed a DJ, and I am so glad we did!!! Jay played everything we requested and checked with me when someone requested a song on our do not play list. Also, with only 2 days notice he got his hands on some obscure Christian rap we wanted played. He kept the day moving along smoothly, and kept the music flowing so the dance floor was never empty. People of all ages were on the dance floor, we were very pleased!
We chose Bruce based on reviews we saw here, and he delivered on our expectations. We wanted to craft a ceremony truly our own with language we chose and elements of various faiths and heritage. Bruce facilitated this and made recommendations, and allowed us to make changes up to the day of the rehearsal. At times our communication was a bit delayed but not so much that it was a problem. Bruce has a phenomenal demeanor - a twinkle in his eye, not overly religious but not too casual either.
