We had both our ceremony and reception at the Metropolitan Club. Although in the midst of winter, we had AMAZING weather...the skies were blue and clear and the view was spectacular. The service was for the most part, wonderful. The majority of our guests raved about how professional and excellent the service was. I think my dad had asked for a few things that the wait staff never got for him or came back with them REALLY late so he wasn't 100% impressed but he absolutely loved the venue. My husband's favorite was the cake. He was sad after the wedding b/c he didn't get time to it down and eat his actual slice of cake. The one bite he got was during the cake cutting. The Metropolitan Club is on the pricier side but when you compare it to a hotel, it just can't compare. I mean how many people can say they had their wedding at the Sears Tower?!! And the guests from out of town loved that they could attend the wedding and do a touristy thing all in one afternoon!! During the planning, I sometimes felt I didn't get a responses right away but that could also be from trying to plan in only about 3 months. In the end, everything turned out beautifully and I couldn't have asked for a better wedding.

Peter was one of the first vendors we hired. We met with a few photographers and both agreed that we liked Peter's style and personality the best...he seemed like the best fit for us...and he was! He got some amazing shots...even had to lay on the sidewalk in the cold for some!! He was a pleasure to work with and made everyone feel very at ease and comfortable. He got us a "preview" of some of our pictures right away (as I'm sure he knows with weddings that the bride is overly anxious to see how the pictures turned out!). And we got the rest of the pictures super fast, too. We couldn't have gotten a more perfect and fun photographer...yet at the same time charming and professional.

Kristen wasn't originally available on our wedding date but luckily everything worked out and she did all my flowers, floral arrangements, cake decor, and aisle runner. My fiance and I planned on a very short timeline so Kristen was very great about meeting and all the last minute changes (and additions). Everything turned out stunning. We had two types of centerpieces for the reception and everyone loved them. We let the guests take the centerpieces home so they were stoked. Our aisle runner was great too as Kristen hand painted our wedding logo on it so we kept just the painted part and used it at the reception and also took it home. We need to get it framed one of these days! The girls bouquets and the men's bouts were just as lovely.

The place I bought my gown from recommended Davis Imperial Cleaners for my alterations. Again, I did everything quite last minute so I was so excited that they would be able to alter my dress in less than 3 months. They always made it easy for me to make appointments that fit my schedule as my weekends were pretty tight with scheduling as the wedding date got nearer. They were super professional and very friendly. My first alteration was for taking in the sides of the dress as it was too large. When it came time to pay, I was pleasantly surprised as it was right at what I thought it would cost, maybe even a little less than I had anticipated which is always great. The second fitting was for the bustling. I guess my dress was really delicate but the cost of that was more than 1/2 the cost of my gown but at that point, what can I do? The last fitting was for length. My final fitting came and the dress fit but I did notice (and later my mom did, too) that the hem of the gown in front was slightly shorter than the sides. I did notice this at the fitting but since my gown had a "rough" hem meaning that it was like a tulle material and it just gets cut (so if it's too short, you're SOL) there really wasn't a point in bringing it up. I was just happy it fit and got it with time to spare. In the end, the dress looked gorgeous but I did end up paying as much for the alterations as the gown...which I didn't have budgeted so I think I'll have to wait to get the gown "cleaned & preserved" since we came out over our wedding budget. My recommendation is to ask for an estimate before you let anyone "snip" your dress. They were great otherwise and very professional.

Laura was our DJ. She was great to work with and very easy going and flexible. We warned her that not a lot of people would be on the dance floor but she worked with us and or guests and managed to get some out there. She was very organized and played everything we had asked...we were never surprised with any of the music the entire night. She was just a great choice for our taste and was amazing with the short timeframe we gave her. Again, one of the vendors we hired just weeks before the big day...but it all turned out great!

We hadn't even budgeted for ceremony music, let alone a harpist but we went to a wedding show one weekend and Claudia was there and we couldn't stop talking about her and possibly hiring a harpist. In the end, we hired Claudia for both the ceremony and the cocktail hour. The addition of a harp was a great decision. It adds such ambiance, grace and sophistication to a wedding. It made the ceremony so much more intimate and the cocktail hour so much classier. It was definitely money well spent! One of the best add-ons to the budget ever!

Jan was extremely flexible and so easy to work with. We literally hired him the week of our wedding to be our videographer. I always wanted a videographer and my husband totally thought it'd be a waste of money. He has now changed his mind and is very happy we got a wedding video to capture everything we missed. On top of hiring Jan the week of, we threw more at him. We wanted to know if he could put together a slide show that we could show at the wedding. Well, he pulled it off. We dropped the digital files for the slide show on Friday and he had it ready for our wedding, which was on Sunday!!! We already got the video, too. We watched it and it was so sweet to see our parents on the dance floor and how happy they were. I think that alone made my husband think that it was money well spent.

Pastor Barry was great and very professional. We arranged a time to meet with him in person and we hired him on the spot to officiate our wedding. He was just warm and friendly and we felt immediately comfortable. He even had a wedding to officiant the day before our wedding so we worked with him and found a time where he could still make it to the rehearsal without having to rush to get to the wedding he had to be at. Everything worked out great...now all we need to do is get a copy of our marriage certificate!
