The day we were engaged, we were up at Hearst Castle. We wanted to get married someplace that evoked a similar feeling, but Hearst Castle just wasn't feasible for us. Little did we know that this hidden treasure, which is just 10 minutes from where we live, would be the ideal background for our perfect wedding. Most people who live in L.A. don't even know it's there! Our guests were completely enamored by the setting. The Mansion, which was built by the Doheny family, has a bit of a dark history, but that just adds to its allure. Everyone there, from the coordinator to the park rangers were quite helpful and willing to work closely with our full-service caterer. The place is a historic site owned by the City of Beverly Hills, and for that reason there were a few rules (such as no candles, no animals, etc.) by which we were quite willing to abide, since we are deeply respectful of the beauty of this gem. If you are seeking an outdoor, English garden type of wedding, Greystone is worth visiting!
Incredible attention to detail! This team was willing to make happen what I had envisioned as the perfect wedding. We had a brunch, and the food was exquisite (our guests keep raving about the creme brulee French toast!). Best of all, they saw us through the entire process with a flexibility that would easily nominate them for sainthood. I am an extremely (some might say obsessively) meticulous individual, and the fact that they were able to pull off a day where all I was able to do was enjoy its perfection is a testament to the wonderful work they do! Great rentals, wonderful planning, polite staff: without any hesitation I would recommend EP!
When planning a wedding, there are certain areas on which a couple should never skimp. The photographer, who captures the beauty of each moment, is one of those areas. We were able to book one of the most talented individuals around, and based on the proofs we've gotten so far, the quality far exceeds the price. Marlin provides a look that is unique and classic, and we are so grateful to have had him, and his lovely wife Marlene, as a signifiicant part of our day. Not only is their work terrific, their personalities are engaging and so much fun! The pictures are what physically remain after all the planning, all the tastings, all the coordinating, and ours happen to capture just how happy we both were on this magical day!
When brides I've spoken to come across Mark's Garden as a possible vendor, some dismiss it because they automatically assume that it is way out of their budget. However, the people there are willing to accomodate to your budget, and will give a realistic estimate for your ceremony. Since we were married at Greystone, we didn't need too much in the way of flowers, rather we just had centerpieces and a few accents. Mark's Garden was able to provide quality arrangements, and their style is unmatched. Our flowers were vivid and vibrant, with English ivy, roses, hydrangea, and rosemary. They served as sharp contrast to our white brocade linens. The flowers with which the stylist decorated the cake were breathtaking. We are so happy we went with this vendor!
To be honest, the cake was beautiful and delicious. We ordered a stacked, 3-tiered almond cake. Of all the places where we did tastings, this was the one that had the best texture and taste. We made the mistake, however, of bringing in a picture of what we wanted. The salesperson was uncooperative, and suggested an outrageous upcharge. It should be noted that everyone else there was polite, though. We ended up with a beautiful cake, though it was slightly different from our original idea. In the end, we were pleased with it. So, if you want a fantastic cake, and are willing to subject yourself to possibly dealing with this salesperson, go with Hansen Cakes. Be sure, however, to specify to them NOT to put on the tacky ruffle at the bottom, which my florist thankfully cut off just in time.
After countless visits to bridal boutiques, I opted to have my dress made. Kathy was able to convert a lace blouse into my dream gown. After our first visit, she told me how much fabric I needed, and I headed downtown and purchased it at Michael Levine. The empire waist, floor-length dress was inspired by Valentino (I had tried on a $9K dress from his Sposa line that just didn't feel like the perfect gown). My dress was elegant, and exactly what I had envisioned. Kathy is so talented, and so reasonable. So, if you can't find the perfect dress, get it made! I was so glad I did.

What a lovely sound! This string quartet was able to not only play beautifully, but custom-arrange the piece we wanted as our processional. They provided music for the ceremony and the cocktail hour, and it was the perfect choice for our setting. We highly recommend them!!!
We purchased the paper for our save-the-dates, programs, place cards, table cards, and invitations (including insert cards) from this vendor, and then we printed them ourselves! It all turned out classically divine! Our guest book was also from Paper Source.
Tiffany & Co. provides exquisite quality and a great selection. Both my engagement (emerald-cut sapphire with tapered baguettes) and our wedding rings were purchased there, as were the cufflinks we gave as a gift to our officiant. We couldn't help but splurge on jewelry we plan to wear every day.
