Our Story

Dave and Heidi met a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away called AOL. (or American Online for those who are new to this stuff!).

Heidi was in NY and Dave was in Maine. Dave sent Heidi an Instant Message in June of 1998. After four months of chatting online, Heidi agreed to meet Dave in person in Hunter, NY. Of course, being an online courtship, Heidi's family members and friends were certain Dave was an axe murderer or married. Turns out, he was neither!

After a year and a half long-distance relationship, Heidi moved to her favorite state of Maine and the rest is history. 10 years, and three cats later, Dave asked Heidi to marry him.

The Ring

A series of cards and other gifts (including a dozen red roses and chocolates) all led up to the small red velvet box containing Dave's grandmother's ring totally taking Heidi by surprise.

The ring belonged to Kim, Dave's niece who recently passed away. She had given the ring to Dave a year or so ago to give to ME, so that makes it even more special and I think of her often when I look at the ring.

Our Planning Experience

I'm glad we didn't get a quickie wedding. I've enjoyed the planning so far. I've also enjoyed watching TV shows like "Say Yes To The Dress". I don't have the budget to get a dress like that, but it's sure fun to enjoy other bride's good fortune. I've picked up a LOT of wedding magazines (wow, they're expensive!) and clipped out ideas then I purchased the Martha Stewart Wedding Planner Keepsake book. It's a great organizer with some very helpful tips as well.
