I loved having our reception at the Houstonian!! The staff (especially Evangelia & Dianora) were excellent and the banquet captain on the night of was so professional. I really enjoyed everyone we worked with and thought they took care of things very professionally. The food was also EXCELLENT which I was so pleased with since we were planning from out of town and wasn't able to do a tasting. I also think most wedding food is just so-so and considered the Houstonian food to be surprisingly delicious! I would whole-heartedly recommend them!
Akil was a great photographer! My sister used him a year before my wedding and I liked his work a lot! However, when it was time for me to get engaged, I still did all the research to check out all of my options.. I'm totally type A and needed to make sure I made the best choice and checked out all options. Even after all my research and photography blog stalking, I still went with Akil and was so glad I did! He did a great job and captured great shots from our wedding! He was a good value for the price and he was enjoyable to have around because he's a cool guy... getting great wedding pictures comes from being comfortable and all of my friends and family were so comfortable with him being around. I absolutely love our pictures and think they really captured the essence and joy of our big day!
I really enjoyed working with Laura at SCF Events.. I think her sense of style is awesome and she really is great at what she does. I also found that her work was the modern and sleek and wasthe best price out of the 7-8 florists I looked into. She was very patient with my changes and VERY responsive which I appreciated because I was planning from out of town... my only gripe was that the centerpiece flowers were a different color pink than the flowers at the head table (although the flowers were the same) and I wasn't sure why the different pink hue that was noticeable... it wasn't a big problem.. just kind of random.. however, I loved how everything was arranged, loved the quality of the flowers and her overall service was great!
I loved my cake!! I was feeling so-so about it b/c my catering package including a cake from Susie's so it wasn't like I had options.. However, it was absolutely delicious and surprisingly moist. I've had plenty of so-so wedding cake and I was really pleased with mine! One of my guests emailed me the next day asking who the baker was and was disappointed that Susie only did wedding cakes b/c she just wanted a cake for no reason, b/c it was so good! Definitely recommend her!
Katherine's Bridal Boutique Alexandria, Virginia 22314
I originally found my wedding dress at a store in Leesburg, VA. Since I live closer to DC, I wanted to find it at a closer store. I found it at Katherine's where it was almost 300 bucks more.. However, they matched the price of the Leesburg store and I got my dress at the lower price! I'm short and the hem and train of the entire dress is covered in lace so they recommended I get a hollow to hem. When the dress came in, it was way too long b/c they ordered the dress in the incorrect length.. The salespeople (some of which are VERY pushy) tried to tell me it was ordered in the right size and said I should just add crenolin to make it poofier and make up for the length (the crenolin and the bustle costing $300). I didn't want a poofy dress so after proving to Katherine with my receipt(the owner) that the dress was ordered in the wrong length, she refunded me the extra money that I paid for the hollow to hem. I then took that money and took it to Judith's Alterations.. and they were able to alter the entire thing (move all of the lace) for $150.... I got the dress I wanted (not all poofy) for less than what the alterations at Katherine's was going to charge me to add crenolin...
I was bummed about the mixup with the hollow to hem order b/c otherwise the dress fit PERFECTLY... Katherine (the owner) was great to refund the money and Katherine (the salesperson) was great! However, some of their alterations ppl and other salespeople are VERY pushy..
UltimateHoustonDJ.com - SoundSource Entertainment Houston, Texas 77090
I originally was supposed to have the owner, Brian Dawson, from SoundSource DJ my wedding. Everything was great. The booking and payment process was a breeze and they were professional and I was pleased. However, about 6 weeks prior to the wedding, I got an email (which was never followed up from SoundSource) stating that my DJ was having a family emergency and a DJ they often use for contracted services called "On Deck Entertainment" was going to have to do my wedding. I was bummed but there was nothing I could do about it so I was fine.. However, I was annoyed when I read other reviews online from brides that had the same experience which leads me to wonder if there really was a family emergency or the do this often.. Also, I was annoyed when I found out that the substitute DJ was about $250 less if I had booked them originally than what I had paid for Sound Source.. On Deck Entertainment ended up being great. I liked the music although it definitely has a "R&B" feel to them that might not jive with every crowd. I was happy with the DJ services I ended up getting although I'm a little skeptical of SoundSource. In the future.. I'd just recommend going straight to "On Deck Entertainment" and save some money.

These guys were great! They were affordable.. easy to book.. and so professional! They got all the information they needed from me, worked with the music minister from my Church, and confirmed everything we me the week before the wedding. They were easy to work with and sounded great!
Belletristics created the file for my wedding invitation suite and I loved it!! Her prices were amazing (although they've increased since) and her work was amazing! I was so pleased with my suite. I asked her to create an image of the Houston city skyline for my invitations and it was a big hit!

Leah did my make-up for both my trial and the day-of the wedding. She was great! I loved how I looked and I thought the entire booking process with her was easy and efficient! I would definitely recommend her. She does great work and was a good value for the money!
The candy bar at my wedding was a HUGE hit!! It turned out great and I loved it! My only complaint was that the woman I worked with (Monica) was VERY unresponsive at one point. At one point, I didn't hear from her for a couple of months even after repeated emails and later found out that it was because she was on maternity. I don't know if it was the fault of her or her co-workers but I definitely feel like that should have been better taken care of. I heard the similar sentiments from my venue who had other brides contacting her... However, after that was resolved, communication was fine.. although never really quick.. The candy bar turned out great in the end and I loved it although I am also very particular and took a very "hands on" approach.. I provided the file for the labels and the grosgrain ribbon for the ties and the labels for jars.. I'm sure the ones they automatically do are fine.. I'm just specific.
