River Farm is a magical place! For those that would like an outdoor wedding, I cannot think of a better location in the Alexandria area. The gardens are beautiful (and they worked hard to make it look good the days leading up to our wedding) and the home overlooks the Potomac River. Everyone kept raving about what a beautiful location we had selected. Both the grounds and home are lovely to explore, and people had fun doing do.
A tent is always kept up, so in case of rain, the tent is there. We had sunshine, so the ceremony was outdoors with the reception under the tent. Then for dancing, we moved into the ballroom! All in all, we couldn't have been more pleased!
Xochitl and her team at Marco Polo Caterers were WONDERFUL! They made our wedding a dream come true. We had many email exchanges and a few in-person meetings so everything was set for our plated dinner reception. Not only did they provide delicious food, they also provided all the tables, chairs and linens for the entire event. They color coordinated with our wedding colors, and added special details like bunching of the table linens and candles on the tables, which added a beautiful touch. Every since detail was above and beyond outstanding. The team accomodated all of our requests, and I could not even believe how smoothly everything ran. Several guests commented on how great our caterers were. I highly recommend Xochitl and her team!!
Christi and her colleagues at Bergerons Flowers & Events were outstanding! I met Christi at a Bridal Showcase and she was a total sweetheart who agreed to provide flowers for my wedding (Mother's Day Weekend) when a few other shops turned us down. I was blown away by her floral decor on display, and when she agreed to do our wedding at such a great cost, I was delighted. Since I do not know much about flowers, we had a lengthy session discussing options and looking at photo books with the colors of my choice. She matched everything to the wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses, and gave helpful advice for table linens. She also helped out with providing a tree to help with ornament favors. The flowers were BEAUTIFUL beyond words. Several guests commented how beautiful the arrangements were, and I was impressed with the final result on the day of the wedding. The colors were brilliant with unique combinations. On top of that, Christi and I met a few times, as well as exchanged several emails. She was outstanding. I highly recommend Christi and her team for weddings or any other event.
Wedding Cakes by Michael Alexandria, Virginia 22301
Wedding Cakes by Michael delivered a nice cake, but it was not the flavor we ordered! I could not believe when we cut into the cake and it had raspberry inside when we had ordered almond flavor. It was "okay," but I was stunned to see that the cake was not what we ordered. With the biggest smile on my face, I looked at my husband and we both knew it was not what we had wanted. HUGELY disappointed. Still, no one knew but the two of us, so we smiled and enjoyed it as if it had been what we ordered. There was nothing we could do at that point.
The cake looked lovely, but then again, the entire decoration was flowers on top, which was done by our florist. We were disappointed, and also frustrated by the lack of response to some of our emails closer to the wedding date.
Steve was outstanding to work with from the beginning. He is extremely responsive, and he knows his stuff! For weddings, he is the perfect DJ. He took our suggestions to heart, and had great advice to offer as well. We met in person a few times to make sure everything was set in advance, and all the planning made the music for the day of our wedding just what we wanted with no worries at all. I would highly recommend him!!
Bill was outstanding to work with. We didn't know exactly what we were looking for, but when we met Bill we knew he was the person we wanted to conduct our wedding. He was friendly and funny and so easy to talk to. We signed up for the pre-marriage counseling sessions (which is optional) and enjoyed going through the sessions together... working to be a stronger couple. And the ceremony! Bill helped us prepare in advance to make the ceremony exactly how we wanted it. When it came to the day of the wedding, it was so personal and fun. Many of our guests commented how terrific he was, and what a special ceremony it was. We couldn't have been more pleased!
