I can't say enough about how amazing Brennan and his staff are at the Arts Club of Washington. The place is absolutely beautiful, the food is amazing, and the staff are extremely polite and friendly. Brennan is so nice and good-hearted. He's also extremely flexible and responsive.
All the guests were blown away by the courtyard where we had the ceremony and dinner. They LOVED the food and the art galleries.
My husband and I feel so lucky to have gotten married at the Arts Club.
Best Impressions Photography and Video Fairfax, Virginia 22031
I selected Best Impressions Photography and Video for the following reasons:
1. I really liked Charlie when I met him at the Bridal Show at Washington Dulles Expo Center. 2. They were familiar with my wedding venue, Arts Club of Washington. 3. They provided raw images of the photos and didn't pressure for wedding albums and framed portraits, etc. 4. The price was extremely affordable.
Over all, I was extremely happy with their service. First of all, Robin was very responsive to my e-mails and inquiries until I booked their service. And on the wedding day, Charlie and his assistant, Fran, were just amazing. They were professional, friendly, helpful, and responded to all our requests for portraits. They moved chairs and tables around to ensure pictures came out clean, they arranged and helped me walk in my dress when my friends weren't available to do so, Fran even helped me re-hook my wedding dress when it popped out during the bridal portrait session.
And of course, the photos came out great too.
The only thing I was frustrated with was that I did not get responses to my e-mails and phone calls once I booked their service. A couple of months prior to the wedding, I contacted all my vendors just to stay in touch and remind them of my wedding day and services. I had to e-mail Best Impressions several times and make a phone call to get an e-mail back from Robin. She explained that she would start focusing on my wedding within two weeks of the wedding day. All she had to do was say that in the response to my first e-mail instead of waiting three weeks.
Anyway, I recommend Robin and Charlie very highly to anyone especially if they are on a budget.
Laurie from Pure Light Images was absolutely wonderful. She took our engagement photos as well as our wedding photos. She is extremely friendly, professional, and non-intrusive. And when we got the photos back, we were so amazed at the clarity of the photos and her attention to details. She obviously has an amazing eye for the colors, backgrounds, and poses that work the best in the photos. She was also great at accomodating our requests and explaining to us what would work well and what might not. She captured the essence of my husband's and my personality and the true color of our relationship in every photo. I would absolutely highly recommend her service to anyone looking for a professional photographer.
Love, love, love, loved our wedding cake by Alexandria Pastry Shop. My husband and I went to several bakeries for wedding cake tasting and none of them is even close to Tom's cakes. His cakes are so unique and so tasty. When we went for our tasting, we ended up eating all three slices of the samples Tom gave us. We couldn't stop eating them and we are not even big cake people. And the cake itself! It was exactly what I wanted. I was so happy when I saw the on my wedding day b/c they got the exactly colors I requested. And their service is exceptional. Both Tom and Ana are so friendly and you can just tell that they love making wedding cakes. Everyone at our wedding raved about the cake. Everyone said that it was the best wedding cake they've every had. Now, THAT's a compliment.
This is a hard one to review because I loved my wedding dress. And the young ladies who helped me try on the dresses were extremely nice. They will take the time to find the styles you ask for and let you try on as many dresses as you want. They'll recommend appropriate shoes and accessories, etc.
But I have to admit that I didn't care for the owner of the shop. She's really pushy; tries to sell the stuff you don't want. And she's very abrupt and intimidating. Make sure you take with you someone who's not afraid of pushing back and speaking up. It was my mother in my case.
One thing that I really disliked about this vendor was that when I ordered my dress, they assured me that it would be a custom fit. I paid them $200 extra up front so that it would be custom fit and I would not have to pay for any alterations if needed. On my first fitting, I could not even zip up the dress. The owner kept telling me, it'll expand as I'm standing there. Well, I couldn't even breath in the darn dress. It was at least 2 inchese too tight. My mom said it needed to be let out but they wouldn't do it until one month before the wedding. I kept telling them I'm not planning on losing weight so might as well just do it now. But they refused.
So, we went back one month before the wedding day. The same thing. I couldn't breath! When we told them it needed to be let out, they said they'd let only 1 inch out. So we waited there for an hour for them to steam the corset. When they brought it back out, they started putting it in a garment bag. I was like, wait a minute, I want to try it on to see if it fits better. I could tell from their facial expressions that they thought I was being such a pain in their rear ends. But I didn't care. It was my dress and I was paying a lot of money for it!
They have beautiful dresses and the prices are very good for the quality. But be sure to ask questions and be firm!

I ended up with Diane because my make up artist works with her. I wish I had looked around some more and found someone else. She is a nice lady but she is not very good at accomodating your wishes. For the first trial, I even brought a picture of the style I wanted, but she did a completely different style. I liked it though so I went ahead and signed the contract with her. But in about three hours, all my hair fell out. The second trial, I brought the same picture again. She was closer this time, but still not there.
Finally, the day of the wedding arrived, and she was doing a completely different style! It took three attempts to get it right. In the end, I really liked the final updo, but I felt like it really shouldn't have taken so many tries to get it right. I just wanted a simple ballerina bun! And every time I told her that's not quite right, I could HEAR her getting exasperated b/c she kept huffing and puffing behind my head. The hair didn't stay all night either. It was falling out by the end of the ceremony. I had to get my girlfriends to secure the bobby pins before the reception.
I don't think she has the patience or the attention to detail to do wedding up-dos properly. And it also seems that she lacks creativity and only does certain styles.
Unless you have a lot of patience and want a generic up to, I would not recommend this vendor. She IS very inexpensive though and she'll come to you so that is very convenient.

I chose Barbara because her value was excellent and she was very responsive to my inquiries. I was a little apprehensive though because I thought maybe I should pay more to get a better service. But I had nothing to worry about!
She's not only a nice person to work with but she's amazing. The make up lasted the entire day and night! She was also really good at listening to what I wanted and balancing it with her professional expertise so that I looked beautiful and perfect for the wedding.
I would recommend her to anyone looking for an affordable make-up artist who is also great at what she does.
