Hotel Derek is a beautiful venue and the staff there is wonderful. Stacy, the current wedding event planner, is awesome. She and Rey, the banquet manager, made sure that each of our specific requests was met to the last detail. They produced our dream wedding reception for us and we could not have been happier! It was first class, very elegant, and we got so many compliments from our guests on the food and the venue. I felt like a princess the whole day of my wedding having to go in and out - the valets took care of our cars and kept them close when I had to run in, the front desk staff catered to our guests' requests, and made sure everyone was as happy as possible. Highly recommended!!
Alice and Eric run a first class operation. They are personable, professional, and best of all EXCEPTIONAL at what they do - capturing precious moments on film. I had my bridal session with both Alice and Eric about two months before my wedding. What a GREAT time we had! We got some amazing photos in very unique locales (ie the water wall by the Galleria) and we got to know each other pretty well. When the day came for our wedding, they were there (and even brought an extra guy!) to capture every moment. They got into the action by helping my fiance sew a button, they fixed my veil when we couldn't get it to stay, and were very covert in their operation. Sometimes I didn't even see where they were but I know they got everything. They are super flexible and will do what they need to to make their clients happy. They truly do become your friends during the process. They even sent US a thank you note after our wedding!! Book them NOW - don't miss out!
Let me start by saying that the flowers for my wedding were perfect - simple and elegant, yet stunningly beautiful. Rob listened to exactly what I wanted, and worked within my budget very well. And I did not have a large budget (I told him I wanted to spend less than $1000). We got so many compliments on them and our priest even wants to purchase the vases that were used to hold the two masses of hydrangeas on the altar.
My only complaint/concern is that during the process, I needed to get ahold of Rob and could not get him for a few weeks either by phone or email. His receptionist is REALLY nice and was patient with my calls. I had started to get worried and we finally connected when I dug up his cell phone number. But, in the end when it counted, he came through with exactly what he promised!
Roslyn is awesome!!!! As my wedding was at the Hotel Derek, Sweet Delights is the preferred vendor and the cake is included. I ended up getting a four tiered cake with four different flavors, different designs on each layer, and it was gorgeous! Everyone loved it and had more than one piece (we had enough cake for about twice as many people as we ended up with and had not a lot of leftover cake :) I would highly recommend Sweet Delights!!
If you want a great selection of dresses (both bridal and bridesmaid) while avoiding the ridiculous prices of the inner loop, go to Brickhouse! It is worth the trip. It is actually the sister company of Mia Bridal Couture on Mid Lane. I worked with Jill on my first trip and she was great. We tried on a LOT of dresses until we found THE ONE. She was really patient and had some great recommendations.
My only problem with them was getting a call back on order status for my bridesmaid dresses once or twice. Also, once when I was checking to be sure all the girls had put their deposits, they told me yes and that they were ordered. A few weeks later I found out that they were NOT ordered at all! So, we got them ordered in time but I only found out by chance that I had been misinformed. That could have been a disaster but luckily was not. I'd just recommend to stay on top of them and call a few times to be sure you are getting the right info - just to be safe.
Arlene and her crew are great! I had a challenging dress to say the least, and while it took multiple fittings to get it just right, they worked every trick they knew and it fit PERFECTLY. I moved and danced all night comfortably and without having to constantly pull my dress up (and it was a HEAVY dress). The shop is not fancy, but the service you will get is wonderful, and they truly take an interest in you as a person and as a bride. Eloisa is amazing and Beverly is always so friendly and helpful. All this at a really reasonable price. Loved them and would highly recommend them.
Gulf Coast was GREAT! We booked both our wedding band (Alterego) and our cocktail hour mariachi band (Los Gallitos)through them. We told them what we were looking for and a budget and they provided recommendations and times when we could go see the bands play live. They were really patient with us and the bands accomodated all our song requests to perfection. They followed our very detailed itinerary and played all our 'hot' songs that we definitely wanted to hear.
Alterego was amazing. They are actually out of Austin but traveled to Houston. They were so lively and got people moving. We are still getting compliments on them.
Los Gallitos are an extremely professional and just beautiful mariachi band. We missed most of it b/c it was during the cocktail hour when we were back taking pictures but again got so many compliments on them.

Angela and Avalon Music are wonderful. They coordinated so well with our church musician, accomodated all requests, and provided such a respectful and also joyful tone to our wedding ceremony. I loved working with them and thoroughly enjoyed their music on our wedding day. Highly recommended!
Rob and his crew are GREAT! They are such fun. We did the Barefeet pre-wedding interview video first, and although my fiance was a little hesitant, Rob loosened him right up and we both ended up having a great time and now have a keepsake to show our friends, family and eventually our kids. Rob's son Alex was at our wedding and FULL of energy. We haven't seen the final cut yet, but I know it will be great. Rob offers great, personable service at a very reasonable price. I loved working with him! Check him out on Facebook also.
Casa de Letras was great! This is actually a franchise out of Mexico and all the invitations are silk screened by hand in Mexico. They take some time to do but are well worth the wait. We did have a few hiccups along the way, but each time Monica fixed it to my satisfaction. She really went above and beyond to be sure I was happy. You will end up with a VERY unique invitation that is truly you and not out of a catalog. Each design is custom done - you pick the paper, ribbon, font, etc. They design something and let you refine it. Loved what they came up with and had a hard time choosing!
They also did my ceremony programs which were also custom made and very unique. Would recommend them to anyone!

Kevin did SUCH an amazing job for both my bridal and my wedding. He is truly an artist and a perfectionist. You won't leave until each hair is in place and your makeup is absolutely perfect. The day of my wedding, we had a lot of girls coming in and they gave us a little area to set up food and drinks and lounge around in between appointments. They got us in and out and all looking amazing. Everyone as really happy with their services.
Also, if you need waxing of any kind, go to Rafia. She's the best!
