About Me
I was born and raised in Michigan. I joined the Navy after high school. I met Dave on a island; Diego Garcia B.I.O.T.; my first duty station. We parted ways and I went to Italy. The USS Emory S. Land became my home for 2 years where I got to travel to Spain, Up and Down the Coast of Africa (Gulf of Guinea). I received an honorable discharge; moved back to Michigan. Dave and I started talking again and rekindled or friendship. After we started dating we decided to move into together in Texas.

I, Emily, was in the Navy. I had just finished QM 'A' School, my orders were in Diego Garcia (B.I.O.T.). Dave was already working on the island as a Governent Contractor. We met through a mutaul friend, Steve-O. I was new to the island and wanted to meet more people than just the PATWING Det One crew. Steve-O and I went out to a local dance club. Dave joined us. At first I thought he was a little strange, but there was something different there and I wanted to get to know him.
We started to hang out more and more. Dave needed to leave the island and go to his next work area, Iraq. I too had to move on from the island. I went to Italy. We kept in touch through e-mails through the years. We stayed friends, even though we both knew we were ment to be more.
Dave returned to the states in March 2007 and shortly returned in May 2007. We started to call each other and talk more with a few e-mails here and there. We became comfortable talking to each other and re-connecting as friends. We decided to take a chance in May 2008 to meet each other for the first time in five years. Fort Collins. Colorado was the desitation. I met Dave's younger sister, Beth and her dog Joey. We had fun getting to know each other all over again. It was a true connection. I felt my heart stop with the very first hug at the airport. I think Dave and I had a great time. We even went to Vegas for the weekend. What a trip!
After 3 months of actually being a couple and one mini-vacation, we decided that being states apart wasn't going to be option. The process of moving me from Michigan to Texas began. After saying all my good byes and packing everything into a moving truck Stepmber 15, 2008 we began the three day adventure to San Marcos, Texas.
The Ring
My, Emily, engagement ring is round specialty cut. The ring also has two smaller diamonds under the main diamond, but facing out wards set in platinum. The wedding band has ten little diamonds on the top of the band. I love these rings, because they are classic and very romantic. The rings have a vitange feel to them which I love. They are more than I could have dreamed of. Dave is the best to pick out jewerly!
Our Wedding Plans
I would a like a garden theme. Which surprises me, cause I am not a big flower person. I want a 'UP spring garden theme'. To me that me means lots of white (base) with bites of greens and bright spring colors popping scattered through out the tables. In my head this is a beautiful mixture of white and colors but overwhelming.
Our Planning Experience
I'm a planner. So, I have been researching everything from prices to etiquette. In all the fun and I know I have time to be researching and figuring out what will work best for us. I am enjoying the process of booking venues and picking everything out. I am not overwhelmed yet, but as the date gets closer I am sure, like most brides, will start to stress out. I say that for the most part the planning experience is a learning one and a good one!
