Heritage Square is a grouping of restored Victorian homes located in downtown Oxnard. Among the buildings is "Heritage Hall", which is an old church structure built in the early 1900s. We had our ceremony in the hall, and our reception outside in the large, brick-paved square which sits in the center of the Victorian buildings. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, with two small garden courtyards in addition to the large central square. La Dolce Vita catered our reception. They are an exceptional Italian restaurant operating from one of the old homes. For us, we couldn't have picked a more picturesque setting four our special day. The historic buildings and lovely rose gardens were a beautiful backdrop in our wedding photos, and our guests really loved the intimate feel of the surroundings.
Our flowers were beautiful and exceeded our expectations. Roni was so patient with me and spent well over an hour meeting with me initially just to get an idea of my vision and get my estimate. I was floundering and she really helped guide me in the right direction to be able to get a good idea of what I wanted and to be able to verbalize that to her. I think her arrangements are really artistic. Her ability to get the colors and feel of the flowers and the event was just excellent. She was easy to talk to, and her love of her work really comes through not only in talking with her, but in the final product. She was great, great great! Some of my favorite wedding pictures are just of the flowers!
Bread Basket Cake Company Camarillo, California 93010
The Bread Basket Bakery in Camarillo is notorious for their delicious cakes for a reason: their cakes are delicious!!! Our cake was as beautiful as it was tasty, and was definitely a hit with our guests. I highly recommend the "fruit basket" filling, which is fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries) mixed with french whipped cream, sandwiched betweeen two layers of moist cake. Mmmmm... Didn't have any problems ordering, changing my order, or having the cake delivered and set up. All in all, a good experience, and a great cake. They are a bit pricier than other cake bakeries in the area, but the quality really comes through their work.
Matt Mitchell was the dj we hired for our wedding and our wonderful day would not have been the same without him. The time and effort he spent with us in the planning stage really showed when our wedding day came. The cost is more than other dj's we interviewed, but the quality of his services really was worth the price. So many of our guests commented afterward at how involved he made everyone feel. The special touches he brought to our reception really made it memorable for us and our guests. Matt is very nice and professional. Getting to know him and his family was quite a joy.

My hair and makeup really turned out nice. My bridesmaids had some issues with their makeup, and thought the cost was a bit much for what we got. The beautician did come to our hotel, which was really convenient and allowed us to be relaxed in our suite while each of us got made up. But she showed up without eyelash glue, so one of my attendants had to run to the store to buy some for her. Just a bit unorganized. In fact when I went to my trial appointment, she was about a half hour late. She stated that her passion is doing hair and makeup for weddings, but that passion didn't really show through in her attitude, unfortunately. During a conversation while having my trial, she all but told me she looked down on people from the city in which I live, which I thought was a bit opinionated and rude, really. I stuck with her, though, and was not unhappy with the job she did for me. Just compared to my other vendors, I was a little dissapointed. Fairytale Hair and Makeup responded with the the following comments: I actually live right near her so I think she took it the wrong way. It is true, the eyelash glue must have been misplaced. I wish the bridesmaids could have let me know they were unhappy. I thought we were all getting along great. It was nice to talk to people that lived by me about the things we do around here.
My husband and I really must be computer geeks... we got my engagement ring and wedding band online from Bostonian Jewelers! We live in California, so yes, my jewelery has travelled more in the last year than I have... I love antique jewelery, and while searching online for a style engagement ring I would like, we came across Bostonian's website and found the "Mirabel". It was the ring of my dreams. So we e-mailed back and forth with Alexandria at Bostonian, until we could come to a conclusion about what we wanted to do. So the final plan was to buy our diamond here in California and ship it (yikes!) to Boston to be set in our ring. Long story short, the ring and diamond returned in beautiful condition, and we couldn't have been happier. So much so that when it was time to get my wedding band, we ordered it from Alex, too. They were so friendly and easy to work with, both by e-mail and on the phone. Everything was delivered just as promised. We felt like we were dealing with the jeweler down the street, not one accross the country. All in all, we have absolutely no complaints and are (still) thoroughly taken by my ring.
Hiring Cari to help us coordinate our big day was one of the best decisions we made about our wedding. She was there from the moment I met her to answer questions or just let me vent, to give advice or just a pat on the back. Her services in setting up our timeline and coordinating the other vendors the month of the wedding were invaluable. Having her at our event was priceless. She handled everything, and made it our wonderful day worry-free. I would recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat.
