Niki was the best photographer that we could have ever hoped for! She was the ultimate professional, yet so extremely kind and thoughtful. In addition to photographing my daughter's wedding, she also photographed her Bridals. She was open and willing to all suggestions that my daughter gave her, which resulted in such fun, unique and beautiful photographs. She seemed to genuinely care and take an interest in my daughter, which I think showed in all the pictures she took at the wedding and the bridals. She has such a wonderful eye for photography and a sweet, kind demeanor which made it a joy to work with her. I would HIGHLY recommend Niki to anyone, for she is a jewel in the vast sea of photographers.
Clear Lake Flowers provided the flowers for my daughter's wedding on July 11, 2009. They designed the most beautiful bridal bouquet for my daughter consisting of white orchids, peonies, and white lilies. It was breathtaking! The bridesmaid's bouquets were beautiful as well, consisting of bright orange lilies. The flowers for the reception were gorgeous as well. I heard many comments from the guests describing how beautiful the flowers were. I would highly recommend Clear Lake Flowers to create the design of your dreams for your wedding.
My daughter had her reception at the White House Ranch in Friendswood, Texas. (see our review of the WHR under wedding venues) Chris Lewis is the preferred DJ of the White House Ranch, so we took the suggestion given us by the person who manages the WHR, Lisa Hedrick, and booked him for the reception on July 11, 2009. Chris Lewis is also listed as a Master Of Ceremonies, and overall he kept the reception running well. But we do not recommend using him as a DJ.
A couple of weeks before the wedding, my daughter met with him and gave him a play list that she and her husband-to-be had spent an enormous amount of time putting together. He told her that he would play the songs that she had requested, and not play songs that the guests would request - before checking with them first. He played a couple of their songs, but the majority of the songs were not on their playlist. He played what he wanted and what he thought the guests wanted - without any regard to what the bride and groom wanted - even though they were the ones who paid him. He even played a disgusting Black Eyed Pea song and said that it was a request from the bride - such an insult to her!
We paid him $850.00 to play what the bride and groom wanted - NOT what he desired or what the guests desired. That, to me, is very unprofessional and he did not fulfull his duties as DJ. Chris Lewis: Master of Ceremonies responded with the the following comments: First I must say that I feel that I am assiduous in responding to my client reviews; however, I never thought I would feel so strongly to defend myself (and others). There are many misconceptions in Ms. Susan's reviews with regards to the vendors used for their event. I would rather not go into detail; however, I feel many of the views are drawn from emotion due to an act of negligence that the contractor (Ms. Susan) became liable for (in other words, she is just angry).
In my defense, I met with the bride on more than one occasion, and regularly discussed her wedding plans via email and over the telephone. I would like to say that we were both on the same page and had a rock solid agenda for the evening.
With regards to the play list of music; I always offer the disclaimer suggesting that you may give me a list of every song you wish to have played; however this is used more as a guideline unless indicated as a "Must Play". The play list given to me was under very careful consideration throughout the entire evening. Every song listed as a "Must Play" was played; even those of questionable nature (i.e. Stiletto Heels, requested by the bride as a dedication to her girlfriends). In addition, the Black Eyed Peas was a request from the bride, as indicated on the play list formulated by both the bride and groom.
The bride often shared ideas, some you would consider akin to dreams; dreams that were often negated by over controlling persons. I always conduct myself with the highest degree of professionalism. This is the type of business that can easily break a person if you are not successful in pleasing your clients. Therefore, I always go above and beyond the call of duty. I labored very hard for the bride and groom, as I do for every client, who resulted in a very heartfelt "Thank You".
To add, the contracted price was not $850 (Ms. Susan, please check your contract... the negotiated price was much lower and included an extra hour for free). I feel ashamed that I did not stick to my regular pricing; but rather offered discounted pricing based off of misleading information from Ms. Susan.
In the end, I will continue to direct my clients to this review site, as the truth is the truth and it is very evident in past, present, and future reviews that my services are professional, affordable, and reliable.
