The facility itself (ceremony room and ballroom) are beautiful. The gardens are beautiful as well. The management leaves something to be desired. Do not expect to speak to or even see the General Manager, Nancy. We saw her twice throughout the whole process. Once to tour the facility and put down the initial deposit and then again ON the wedding day. Any other time we went out there or called or emailed, it was always Jeremy, her assistant, that we spoke to and honestly I preferred it that way. Jeremy is the easiest person to work with, he was courteous and professional each time I spoke with him. It is nearly impossible to get ahold of Kapok through email because I think their email account is messed up, so call if you need anything. During your "planning" process if your going to post ANYTHING on ANY wedding wbesite about ANY problems you have with Kapok, expect a phone call from Nancy. I posted one thing on here about them not responding to a SINGLE email after I gave them the deposit and I got a phone call the next day about my online post. When I called back, I was given an attitude from the general manager and I did not appreciate it at all, after that I refused to speak with her at all, and only dealt with Jeremy. It is expensive, extremely expensive, but you are getting the whole facility for the day. However, I did not know that I was going to be feeding the Kapok staff the day of our wedding. We paid $200 for a "soda server" and $200 for "security." The "security", is Nancys son. Our "soda server" was Jeremy, and honestly I had NO PROBLEM with Jeremy eating because he worked the bar all night, he was setting things up he helped us through the whole process of planning things and he was an absolute doll. I don't understand why I had to feed her son. They are lucky I had several guest not show up, otherwise there wouldn't have been food for them to eat. Granted they ate AFTER all of the guests did, but still I should have been informed that I would be feeding them as well so that I could add them to the headcount for our caterers. So when you book, make sure to add 2 to your catering headcount. They did add on a few extra things without us asking and without charging us, which was nice, but for the cost, we should not have had the problems we did have. All in all, if you tour the facility, you like it and you have the money I'd recommend Kapok, but be aware of the things mentioned. Kapok Special Events responded with the the following comments: The General Manager is always available. As Assistant Manager, it is my responsibility to handle all calls, emails and appointments for the Wedding Couple. If we're aware that one of our Bride's is unhappy, in any way, we alway try to contact and smooth out any miscommunications immediately. To clarify about the food.... Caterers only charge for your headcount given. Out of the caterers' courtesy, they provide food for our Kapok staff.
We looked around for quite a while for the right catering vendor. Most places were just toooo much money for what we had budgeted. I was recommended to Affordable Catering by our DJ Cory Barron from Grant Hemmond and I am pretty happy that we decided to go with them. The food was reasonably priced and was extremely good! Even though I missed cocktail hour, haha, I heard rave reviews about the appetizers that were served at that time. I absolutely LOOOOOOOOOVED the chocolate fountain and was happy we were able to "splurge" a little on that. Leslie was so sweet and answered every single question I had, which were quite a few. She was more than understanding when I was a little late with the initial deposit and with the scheduling of tastings and consultations. At the wedding, the staff was there setting up before I even arrived, they were so attentive to us, constantly asking if we needed anything, and even brought me stuff from the chocolate fountain when I couldn't get to it myself. Our officiant mentioned a few problems with the attitudes of some of the staff but I had no problem with any of them. Definitely consider them when your looking for your catering vendors!!
I found Christopher Visuals through weddingwire.com and only communicated with Chris via email. We never actually met in person until the day of the wedding, and I was a little worried about never actually going in to see his pictures. Honestly, I have NO idea why I was so worried. Chris and his assistant were at our venue at 4pm, like I asked, and they took pictures of just about everything. All the pictures came out beautifully, despite me not smiling much. The value was fantastic, could not have asked for much more from Chris. He did such an amazing job and even got a few smiles out of my now husband, haha. Definitely would recommend Christopher Visuals to anyone and everyone getting married in Tampa Bay! Thanks so much!!
BEST FLORIST EVER!! Thanks to our DJ, Cory Barron, I had the best florist ever. Our meeting with Debbie was another last minute thing, since my original florist stopped responding to my emails and phone calls. The bouquets were absolutely gorgeous and she was SO much fun to work with, such a great personality. I was a little hesitant to use DD Blooms just because I've heard how great they are so I assumed, great flowers= big $$$$. Seriously though, the flowers were within our price range that I had budgeted, and I am glad I chose real flowers as opposed to silk. They looked amazing, and the little rhinestones in the roses gave it that extra touch. Another big plus..Our officiant, and DD Blooms are friends and worked out of the same office basically so they worked everything out amongst themselves. Absolutely gorgeous. Thanks so much!!
Such a sweet lady! Di was so nice when we went in to talk about the cake initially. She had samples set out and provided information about other vendors. She gave us many ideas about centerpieces and decoration and table names. She was just so nice! I brought her a picture of the cake we wanted, wrote out what we wanted changed and which cake flavors and fillings we wanted. We had red velvet cake with cream cheese filling on the top and bottom tier and white chocolate cake with strawberries(real strawberries mind you!) as the filling. There was no extra cost to add different flavor cakes, she didn't require us to make like a 10% or 50% deposit. There was a deposit, but it was whatever we could afford at the time, so we put $50 down and paid the rest the day before the wedding! The cake was done exactly like the picture with the changes we asked for and it was so good! I looove red velvet cake and it was hard to find a bakery that wasn't going to charge extra to use that cake. Di's Delights was fantastic!! Thanks again!
I live in Florida and a manager at work told me about Chrissy O Designs since she had gotten her Alfred Angelo Dress from them. The shop is actually in New Jersey, I believe, so I was hesitant to order the dress. I am so glad I did!! I got the dress at about half of the price I was quoted in the actual Alfred Angelo shop here in town and it was the EXACT same dress. It arrived when promised and in more than enough time to have the dress altered. I got SO many compliments on the dress, and it really was amazing. The beading, the color; everything about it I loved from the moment I saw it. The sales woman, Jenny, was so great every time I spoke with her on the phone for through email. I am so happy that I was able to order it from Chrissy O Designs! Thanks so much!
Our DJ(s) were Cory Barron and Eric Harding, and Cory is actually a close friend of ours, so close in fact he was the Best Man. Eric did the introductions and ceremony music and some of the reception music and Cory finished out the night. Cory was there at 3 to set up, and had pretty much everything ready to go at 5pm when the ceremony started. I had NO idea what music to play, all I did was give him a general list of what we liked and what we wanted to here and the big dance songs and they took care of the rest. I had no idea what "grand entrance" music I wanted and while we were taking pictures, they helped us pick a song, haha. The guys were so amazing and so professional. We couldn't have asked for more. Cory gave GREAT recommendations for some of the other vendors I used, especially DD Bloom florist, Katherine DeMarco from Made for Each Other Weddings, and Affordable Catering, and I ended up using most of his recommendations. Music is something you do not want to just skimp on, or let some amateur do and I am so happy Cory and Eric were able to do it! Thanks guys!!
I wanted invitations that I could word any way I wanted, that would be elegant, match my colors, and not cost me and arm and a leg. InvitationConsultants.com let me word the invites the way I wanted; we chose the font, the color, pretty much everything was customized. The colors matches beautifully, they were elegant yet still modern. The only issue I had was the print was smaller than anticipated, it was raised off the paper and it was shiny so it made it hard to read for some people. I personally loved the invitations and was so happy we got them from here. The price was right, the invites were gorgeous, and I couldn't ask for more!!
Hands down, the sweetest, most understanding officiant ever. Katherine was absolutely amazing. She kept up with all of my emails, was understanding with our crazy schedules, and helped out in every possible way imaginable. I wanted something unique for our ceremony and she suggested a beautiful addition called, "the Letter, the Box and the Wine." It was so great to have something unique in our ceremony and I had never heard of that so I was so happy when she mentioned it. She, along with her assistant, also did the "Day of Coordination" and they were so ontop of things. Few things got mixed up but It wasn't their fault. Katherine was so professional and even apologized to our families when the table arrangements got all mixed up. I could not have asked for better. Seriously, if you want a great ceremony Katherine DeMarco is the way to go. You won't find anyone better!!! Thanks Katherine!!
I ordered my fiances wedding band from Titanium Kay, and I am so happy I did. The ring I ordered was $99 from Titanium Kay, and in the stores we looked at it was over $300. It was the exact same ring that is in many stores. I was not about to pay that much, and I am happy I found Titanium Kay.com. The ring was here in no time! No shipping charges, no tax; absolutely fantastic. They even let us exchange the ring since it was too big because my fiance lost some weight.Great online jewelry store to work with!
We put in a last last last minute order for all of our linens (tablecloths, overlays, napkins, chair covers, etc.) and Chris was very patient and helpful. He communicated well with me through email, since I never answer my cell phone, haha. They were at the venue setting things up when I arrived at 2:30-3pm, and the wedding didnt start til 5. Everything was beautiful, I could not have asked for a better company! Thanks so much for making one thing less stressful! haha!
Emelina's Bridal did such a wonderful job altering my wedding dress. It had alot of beading and detail and you could not even tell it was altered. We went in 1 week, and it was done about a week later. They were so helpful, I didn't even have to tell the ladies where to take it in, I put it on and she started pinning, lol. They did a beautiful job on the bustle and even showed my mom how to do it. I was so happy to find a bridal shop that would alter a dress that wasn't bought from them. The best place to go to get a dress altered. Thanks so much ladies!!
