When Paul and Jodi Rainford got married earlier this month, they received no gifts. But they ended up getting exactly what they wanted.

For our wedding, we didn't have a need for anything from the usual wedding registries; so we asked that, in lieu of gifts, donations be made to to one of our favorite local charities. I think that in such a material world, it's nice to share our good fortune. Charity giving as part of a wedding is a growing trend. There are even websites that facilitate the whole process for you. http://www.justgive.org is one that I know of that a friend is using for their wedding this summer.

www.agreataffair.com is a cash gift registry. You can register for anything you want, including charities, your honeymoon, a downpayment for a home, or traditional gifts like home furnishings.
