Which Veil should I choose???

I'm getting married in June, and I have my dress picked out, but I'm torturing myself over what veil I should wear. I don't know if I'd feel right without a veil--I want to honor tradition--but I really want to show off my hairstyle, and I don't want to look like a giant snow monster! I'd like to have the lifting the veil experience, but I'm not so sure I want to deal with multiple layers...any suggestions?

You could actually do a floating veil and one over the face. The floating veil goes under your hair style so that it doesn't cover anything and then your face veil well obviously goes over the face but then you can take it off after the ceremony. I know it sounds funny but i've seen it before and it doesn't look as funny as it sounds...I'll try to find some pics for you.

So kinda two veils instead of one that makes a big POOF on your head...hmm I like the idea. Thanks! :)

Well I really wanted that too (the lifting of the veil) but I just don't think it will go with my dress. So if you want to show off your hair you could get a pretty tiara or head band! I think it would be just as lovely.

Yeah...I wonder If I could just have one veil that comes over my face and my back...just like a single piece...and pin it into my hair somehow. My dress kinda needs a veil, I think.

I have a veil but I decided against the blusher (the kind you lift) because I felt it was too much going on. But you could always do the veil for the ceremony and take it off for the reception and that way everyone can see your hair!

Everyone has such wonderful ideas!! You can also do a veil that is a full circle cut. This cut will give you the look of two layers, with the top layer being used as the blusher and the bottom layer draping down your back. You can have it attached to a hair comb and that would be easily removed after the ceremony. This style is not puffy at all and looks great either way you wear it. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have I will be happy to help you in any way dreamveils@yahoo.com or you may check out my website at www.ultimatedreamveils.com and see all of the veils that I have custom made. Good luck and best wishes to you.

I had the veil with the blusher and even an extra layer of blue underneath (I know it kind of sounds tacky but the blue was really a nice touch and not very visible) it wasn't as puffy as you think. I got mine at Micheal's for super cheap and then my mom added the blue for me. When my dad lifted my veil and kissed my forehead everyone cried well at least my close friends.

Dream veils is right! I wanted a veil too but hate it when they look like the bride's brains have exploded tuelle! Start looking up Drop Veils - they're no-pouf, one piece, either round or oval and come in many different lengths. My veil is PERFECT! Very simple but sophisticated looking in my opinion, and really ties in the look. And most brides take the veil off for the reception anyway, so everyone will still get to see your hair.

Circular cut veil or cage ("French") veil, also called "birdcage" veil could indeed be a great solution for you! Look at the veils at http://forprincessbride.com/store/page3.html (you have to scroll down to see the birdcage/French veils). If you wish to remove the veil after the ceremony, make sure you have a sparkling hair accessory-hair flower, side hair comb, headband, or simply some rhinestone hairpins in your hair to maintain your "superstar" bridal image.

Sounds like the drop veil would be a good choice. They are usually a circle or oval cut without any gathering so no chance of being mistaken for a snow monster. They can be left with a cut edge or embelished any way you want from pencil edge to elaborate laces. Length from flyaway to cathedral.

Thanks guys...I took your advice and bought a circle cut veil...it is only one layer so I won't have the "lifting the veil" experience, but I figure my dad handing me over to my fiance is symbolic enough!
I like my veil, and it was a good compromise between my mom, who wanted one and my own preference, plus I do really feel more like a bride with a veil, and and my dress is GORGEOUS and one of a kind! I found it at this little bitty bridal shop in Mission, KS (the least likely place in the world), but it is one of a kind and fantastic, and the veil sets it off perfectly. :) Thanks everybody for your advice!
