What's the Deal?
I've been reading different posts, trying to be helpful and what-not, and I've noticed a couple posts about theknot. And they haven't been very good. So I'm wondering what the deal is with the knot. I have an account at the website but I never use it, I've come to check WW like I check facebook (which is like 2 or 3 times a day, lol) and it's been extremely helpful. But wondering if there is something I should know when/if I ever use the knot.

I am pretty much an observer on both- only make an occasional comment on WW- theKnot seems very informative, however does not seem to be, lets just say, as "supportive" an environment?? Some comments get a little narky. I guess you could take it as you find it- there is nothing wrong with using lots of sites as resources! : )

Well, the Knot is basically the opposite of this site in terms of attitude, friendliness, and supportiveness. They are very judgmental over there as well. Just lurk for a while on some of their boards and you can see for yourself. A few weeks ago, several ladies from the knot came over to this site and started ridiculing and harrassing some of the posters here. Not sure what happened after that since I was at a conference and not on WW, but apparently lots of drama ensued, and some of our regulars left this site and moved to another site that apparently has less "drama." Hope that helps.

Oh. I wasn't really trying to be nosey or anything. I just didn't know if that was a place where my personal information would be used in a way that I didn't want it to be used I guess. I won't ask any more questions regarding that. Sorry!

One of the VERY nice things about this site, is the ability of the vendors to pipe in and comment. As a professional, I like being able to lend a hand and give suggestions that other forums don't allow.

I think this gives every bride a better understanding of what happens in the "real" world, if she's willing to accept the input of a vendor. Some are simply trying to sell their services, but the vast majority of "us" vendors is to help you make good decisions... helping the whole community, with the wish that by giving you good solid information, we all win!

That's why I like it here!

Colette, I understand that you were just trying to be sure that there isnt anything terribly wrong with using that site. I think that the more we have new or people post more frequently that we may just get this question out of honest curiosity. So with that in mind telling them NOT to ask the question is quite rude. I understand that those of us that were involved with the fiasco want to move on and forget about it, we need to be courteous to our fellow posters that may not have the background info that we have and want to know if there is any harm in posting on the KNOT. Its not a forbidden site or one that does any harm, so we need to be careful not to portray it as such. Its mere existence shows that it does help some while maybe not so much for others. Me personally, I like checking there because they often times have brides that post items for sale for a really good price. I just ask that we try and respect everyone and thier questions, comments and opnions.

Like I said I wasn't around for the drama, but I do think that treating them like "The Site That Shall Not Be Named" might be a bit extreme...

Yada that made me giggle. I dont know if anyone actually calls them the site that shall not be named but it really cracked me up. Collette I too have a knot account but dont really use it. The women on there tend to not be very kind to others. If they dont like someones idea rather than just ignore it they'll comment how its a stupid idea or looks disgusting and things. Basically some of the posters are quite nasty though of course there are a lot of good posters too. Here people tend to be far kinder and supportive of peoples ideas because we generally understand that everyone is different and weddings should reflect each couple and be something for them so we try to help everyone and not be judgemental.

If I seemed rude, I appologize, someone else had a simila r post also. I meant about the drama, sorry I took your question the wrong way, I am not above appologizing, but if you read what I said, I did say use whatever site you want, in no way did I put any place down. Nothing is wrong with theknot, there is a lot of useful tools and people on the site as well as here. Again, enjoy :)

Ok, let me clear the air. I am in no way a confrontational person, and I don't like adding fuel to fires. Soooooo....I want you all to know that I meant nothing bad in posting that question. I was just asking for my personal references. So on that note, I'm moving on. I hope y'all will still post to other questions I may ask, because I'll be the first one to admit that I have no idea what I'm doing in regards to planning a fabulous wedding. So I'm gonna need you guys' help every now and then :)

Thanks ladies!!!
