What comes first?
On the day of the wedding what comes first, getting your hair styled or your make up done? I originally thought hair first, so that if they wash or hairspray your hair it doesn't mess up the make up. But I can see it the other way also, that you don't want your hair to get mussed or full of make up when it's already been done. I'd hate to have my hair done in the morning and for the curls to fall out before my wedding! What are you all doing?

I saw a similar post here before and many of the pros recommended hair first and then makeup because you probably won't get makeup in your hair but could wind up getting hair products on your face and you don't want to have to do your makeup again.

It really just depends how the appointments work out. You should wash your hair and dry it before going to get your hair done to save time. Also, if you already have tried out the hairstyle you want, then it won't really matter. But if you haven't, do hair first to save time. Make up always takes less time.

Thanks guys, like I said, I can see the benefits of both ways, just didn't know if there was something the pro's recommended.

I know they say you shouldn't wash your hair everyday but I REALLY don't like my hair the day after. I feel like my scalp is too oily and I worry about it looking flat and smelling unclean. That being said, I also don't want curls that look bullet proof with hairspray, so if my stylist tells me they'll hold better if I wash it the day before, I'll probably do it.

Don't wash your hair the day of to prevent the style coming out.
I would do your hair first, because you will definately end up with hairspray/ products on your face and want to wipe them off.
I actually did my makeup totally last, after putting my dress on, to avoid getting it on my dress. That probably isn't necessary for most people though XD

I'm the same as you, compulsive hair washer! But we did a trial both ways, and it DOES make a huge difference!

Even at home I always do my hair first and then makeup so hopefully I'll be able to work it out the same for my wedding. In fact I'm hoping to have the same person do my hair and makeup so it should be fine.

I always do my makeup first at home. That way my hair isn't soaking wet when I blow dry it. I have my hair in a towel so it soaks up the excess water without drying curly and I do my make up. Then I take out the towel and dry my hair straight with the blow dryer. But I don't use any hair products in my hair so I don't have to worry about mousse or hairspray getting on my make up.

Future Mrs. G, yes I totally agree that I'll be getting my nails done the day before. I won't want to be worrying about my nails being wet the day of!

My schedule was exactly like future Mrs. G's. With a ton of hairspray your hair will last all day, but makeup won't last as long so it doesn't make sense to do it all that early.

Yes I guess I'll probably do make up last because I know the longer I have on my makeup it seems to fade. I just don't want my hair to be totally crusty feeling so I wanted to avoid tons of hair spray (I'm not against hairspray, I just don't want my hair to feel crispy and crunchy!)

That does sound like a good deal, with all your girls it'll be a great relaxing stress free time! Being pampered and having some munchies to snack on! Sounds good to me! I still need to figure out where I'm getting my hair and make up done.

I've photographed a lot of bridal preps, and have never seen make up applied before hair. I think it's easier to apply make up after your hair is all done and pretty and out of your face. :O)

Another note on doing hair first is that the look of your makeup can change based on your hair style and it also lets you see the shadows that can be caused by your hair style.
