Vegas Wedding ideas
We are planning an April 2010 wedding in Vegas. I have never been to Vegas & have no idea where to start on looking for a location. Any recommendations on places or places we should avoid? We want something very small & intimate (less than 20 guests) and would prefer an outside location.

Are you looking to get married on or off the strip? I'm looking at venues in Vegas myself and have seen a few off the strip that are nice. If you are looking for off the strip Aliante Station will do a ceremony poolside. closing down the pool for the ceremony (which is really rare). You can have your cocktail hour out by the pool also. Or since you are having a small wedding you can probably do dinner out there. April still pretty comfortable outside for dinner.

I would look at the hotels. Most of them offer great places to get married. My sister was married at Treasure Island and it was nice. Nothing over the top, it was small as well with maybe 15 people. The wedding video they received was really cheesy, but that kind of made it fun!

The only place I have experience with was the New York, NY. My friend got married there and it was really beautiful and elegant! (not an elvis impersonator in sight). The chapel was gorgeous but it was also pretty small. Perfect for a small wedding, however it was inside.

Your venue will depend on what you envision your wedding to be like. Most hotel/casino offers a chapel and occasionally outside options, such as a garden or a pool. Also, the benefits of the hotel/casinos is that you have your reception space right there or you can throw a party in your room. The downside is you typically have to walk through the casino which is not always pleasant. There are chapels surrounding the Strip too if you would prefer to have more of a chapel or “themed” wedding for some places (think Elvis). All I can recommend is do NOT use Griffin Events. They are located in Southern Highlands and they claim they can do everything for you because all vendors are in house. They nickel and dime, ignore phone calls and don’t put anything in writing so they can claim they never said something or said they told you at the end of your day. If you’re approached by them, quickly run the other way.

I've been to two weddings in Las Vegas. One at the Flamingo; http://www.harrahs.com/weddings/flamingo-las-vegas/ which was a very nice outdoor wedding. The other was at the Chapel at the Riviera in Las Vegas; http://www.rivierahotelchapel.com/index.htm . Both were nice but I loved outdoor wedding at the Flamingo. It was just was really nice.

First off Congrats! I will also be getting married next year in Vegas in an outside ceremony (not sure on date yet). We really like the Venus Garden at Caeser's Palace. We also looked into the Flamingo and the Juno Garden at Caeser's. I'm sorry I can't tell you what they look like other than what I've seen in pictures as I haven't been to Vegas in years. Hope this helps. If you need any more help, info, or would like to share ideas please feel free to message me!

So a few questions. Budget? Who are the guests ie family friends, partiers? Is there a theme? My bestfriend just got married in Vegas with a 40's Hollywood glamour theme - guys in zuit suits(too cute) Bride in a gorgeous goldish form fitted evening gown, bridesmaids in black cocktail dresses. Found a great place about 15 minutes from the strip on the water to have the ceremony, rented a stretch escalade party bus/truck to pick all guests and groom and groomsmen up at select location/time. The limo that came with the location picked us girls and mom up 20 minutes after party left. After ceremony we went down to Freemont Street just before the light show and had photos taken by the photographer she hired for the night. Awesome photos by the way. After we had rented a gorgeous suite , 24 guests, at Planethollywood for $800 (Boulevard Suites) wher all of the guests for an evening of drinks and food. Catering at Planethollywood was about $2000.00 We had a friend go and purchase

the alcohol from a store and planet hollywood provided beautiful brass tubs and ice to put all of the beer, wine, etc. Thier favors were shot glasses--their names and the saying "Always Bet on Love" and they named the shot, which was a mild shot 'buttery nipple". Plenty of room, seating, pool table, and right on the strip with an awesome view. Let me know if you need any other info.

Good Luck and Happy wedding.

Good Luck with the wedding. I know I found our beach wedding site by accident online. It was the best time of my life though. Good Luck.

It appears that I will be getting married in Vegas nine days before you. I struggled to find a place with what I was looking for, mainly not a cheesy chapel. {Although my FH did want to get married by Elvis :)} I finally found a website with a couple options. http://www.lasvegaswedding4u.com/
I am doing the Heritage Garden Royal Elegence Package. I had consideded doing the Valley of Fire but when I saw the pictures of the willow trees for the Heritage Garden I knew this was the place. the packages are great and included flowers for you and your maid of honor. if you need to add additional flowers for bridesmaides you can for just $50 a bouquet. If you have any other questions please let me know and good luck!

First off congrats!! I live in Vegas and there are some really great places to get married here, personally me and my hubby didn't want the everyday las vegas wedding, so we got married at a place called Griffin Events Inc, it's a mansion off the las vegas strip http://www.griffineventsinc.com/
you can also try a place called The Grove which we checked out and it was beautiful just to small for the amount of guest we had but would be prefect for about 20-40 guest http://www.the-grove.com/home

Thanks everyone for all of the great advice! I've checked out all of your suggestions. I think we are going with the Chapel of the Flowers. I really like their glass garden location and a chapel is a lot less expensive than the casinos. Now it's just agreeing on a date so we can get everything booked!
