types of bustles...
So I came across this great blog that talks about different bustles and provides sample pictures for those of you that don't know or can't decide what kind of bustle you'd like.

This is something I've been wondering about. My dress is very simple and is just satin on the bottom (with more detail and ruching on the bodice). I don't know how they are going to make the bustle without the hooks and stuff showing! I'm sure the seamstresses are skilled and knowledgeable in this matter, I guess I just need to go talk to one to find out which bustle works best with a simple, embellished satin dress...
Thanks for posting this!

I just learned about all of that yesterday smh. Thanks for the post. I am just concern I wont have a problem doing it the day of my wedding. I have like 8 or 9 hooks or whatever you call them.

Do a couple of trial runs with your MOH or MOB (or whoever is going to be near you at the wedding). You can try it while it's on the hanger and then also when it's on, that way the day of the wedding you don't spend half hour in the bridal suite trying to figure out what goes where, your MOH will already know where all the hooks are and where they go!

you'd be surprised how they hide your hooks or buttons for your bustle. it's impressive seeing the tricks they do.

also, definitely rehearse hooking your bustle but have the same person do it and become familiar with it.

At your fitting choose which bustle style will look best for your gown. With some dresses, it is readily apparent which bustle style looks best. Some gowns will look good either way you choose. I let my customers help choose which way they think looks best.

I always encourage brides to bring to their last fitting, whoever will be doing the bustle so that they will be familiar with how it should go up. For some bustle designs, I also provide a diagram of how it should go up, just in case they forget.

This is a great thread to post about! Also... besides what style of bustle... be sure to ask what they will be using to bustle.... I highlt recommend the ties over the snaps. Snaps come unsnapped very easily if you have a heavier dress. ties are a sure way to go for any style bustle.
