Taking the venue into consideration when picking colors???

Okay so I posted a while back about doing our wedding colors in Navy, Apple Green and Cream/Ivory. But since then we have booked our venue. I'm starting to think these colors are going to clash with this venue. I've posted pics of it on an inspiration board. Also with the wedding being in November 2010 I'm thinking these aren't great fall colors either. Lots of pics I'm finding with this scheme are either marina / outdoor weddings. Thinking of changing to more of a brown / cranberry / goldish scheme...or something else. But my FH says just bc it's in fall doesn't mean it has to be fall colors. Opinions needed PLEASE!!!

I looked at your venue photos and I think that the navy etc would look great in there. It looked pretty neutral to me with beige walls, etc....is it different in person? I agree with your FH that you don't HAVE to pick your colors according to the date. I do think you should try and not clash with the venue but it doesnt look to me like you have that problem. For ex: I had some pinks in most of my wedding stuff but in the one room of our venue the dominating color was bright red curtains and gold trim, so I had to do NO PINK in there! LOL....I think you have a neutral colored venue so you can pick whatever you want

I agree with Laura. The phots of your venue are failry neutral so any color would go. Who says you need to go with fall colors...pick whatever you want. I looked at the color photos on your IB...very pretty.

I think your colors are beautiful....you go with the colors that make you happy, not necessarily based on the time of year or location.....I think that tradition is going by the wayside. I got married in June on the beach & my colors were brown, pink, and ivory...not necessarily summer colors or beach colors. Your colors would pop in your venue since it has such a neutral background color. Go with what makes you happy! Good Luck! :-)

I agree the time of year doesn't need to influence your color choice. But I do think it's important to consider how your colors will look in the venue. A seemingly neutral backdrop may not feel so neutral once your colors are in there. (Case point - our venue is pretty neutral, but it does have a lot of green in it. We rarely see a color palette that doesn't work with our space - but it has happened. Namely, green linens don't work so well for us... it's just way too much green...)
.
Some of our brides have rented a few linens and purchased some silk flowers in their colors and brought them by our venue to see how they look in the space. We'll set up a table or two for them and let them play around until they are comfortable with their decision. Ask your venue if they wouldn't mind you stopping by for a few minutes one day to test your colors out there - it will put your mind at ease.

That's a great idea of taking a few items in there to see how it looks. Overall it's a neutral toned place but there is a lot of gold and brown in the pillars and the valances in the ballroom where the reception will be held. The building was built in the early 1920's so it does have a vintage feel to it...another reason I'm thinking the navy, green and ivory will clash. Ugh this is the hardest part so far! I feel like I can't really do much else until I've decided on colors.
