Skipping Traditional Wedding, Going For Destination Wedding/Honeymoon

So, I don't think I'm going with the traditional wedding I've been planning.I think it is safer for everybody that my and the fiance's families never actually meet. So the new plan is for me and him to go(fly or drive I havent decided yet, i dont much care for planes) to Orlando, Florida(from Peoria, Illinois.)We'll go to Discovery Cove to swim with dolphins and then SeaWorld(my favorite place in the world.) Maybe a day spent on the Gulf Coast on the beach.Maybe an officiant to marry us on the beach at sunset. I want a different little white dress for each day, so I feel like a bride, but have different dresses in pictures. This seems like the less stressful, less expensive, more pleasant way to celebrate our relationship together. My fiance seems to like this idea mainly because our families wont be together under the same roof, but I know we will both enjoy it. I guess I would like anybody's advice, opinions, or does anyone regret not having a traditional wedding or 1 without family?

I like the idea of wearing a white dress each day you are on your own version of a destination wedding. It's a cute idea. And besides, your wedding should be what you want it to be... not what everyone else wants.

I am from Miami and I love Orlando. We did Discovery Cove for sons 6 b-day. That place is wasome. Honestly I would have much rather done something like. But my FH wants a wedding and I am doingall the work. Is you family from Orlando? If not there are great packages that you can get. Your wedding is in 2011 so you have plenty of time to plan. A little advise in Nov in Orlando it can be kind of chilly for swimming w/ Dolhins. Let me know if you need any help finding Hotels/Resorts in Orlando.

Trina: I was born in Naples, and my dad still lives there(parents split up when I was 8, so we moved to Illinois to be close to my moms parents.) But I love everything about Florida. I have been to Seaworld four times(disney once, didnt care for it as much.) But if/when I definitely decide on this I will probably use my tax returns this year to pay for the trip, so it might be more like april-may 2010. As for hotels, I want something in a safe area, that doesnt smell, and has hot water. Other than that I could care less, I dont want to pay more that, like, $55 a night, cuz all I will be doing there is sleeping and showering. When I went to Orlando in 2006, I stayed in a hotel in downtown Orlando for like $45 and it was great. I need to find that place again! lol! A question about Discovery Cove: Did you find the dolphin swim lacking at all? I have heard that you only get 10minutes to interact with the dolphin directly. Was the experience worth the $250??

Cathasach: I feel its only fair that I get a couple little dresses if I'm not gunna get one big dress! LOL! I love wearing little dresses, and I think it will make me feel special all day and look really nice in all of the pictures(I plan on taking hundreds!) It will give the wedding feel, but not be too much to walk around all day in.
RHONDA B.: Don't mention mountains to my FH! I'm sure he would rather be snowboarding down them, but I can't let him know that that is an option, or I will be freezing my butt off!

We are probably going to pet the belugas and penguins at seaworld too. Id much rather have pics of me with happy little animals that with uncomfortable family members.

Destination wedding is the way to go! Check out Click2GoTravel.com and click on honeymoon/weddings. You can literally pick where and what you want to do. You register your honeymoon (just like household items) and your guests make a payment to help pay for your trip. You can choose all your activities (i.e. swimming with dolphins, etc). It's so much nicer than asking for cash. Email me Janine@Click2GoTravel.com if you need any help!
