Ring Cleaning!!

kylie.monika, on August 27, 2014 at 3:49 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13

Hi Ladies!

So here in AK the state fair is finally booming. I went on sunday and saw this booth with a giant sign that said "free ring cleaning". Well, to say the least I walked away 5 minutes later with a 30.00 bag. I have never, EVER seen my ring sparkle the way it did!! Even now, three days later it still sparkles like a disco ball. Well worth the buy! She brought up a good point too - the professionals tools actually vibrate the stones causing them to loosen, while you use a toothbrush and paper towel with this and it does not.

The amount of black gunk that came off of my ring while she cleaned it was absolutely disgusting. Now, I've had it cleaned twice since getting it.. it should not have been that dirty!! I just wanted to share this amazing discovery with you all. I will be using this to clean my ring for the wedding! Smiley smile Website below

My jeweler said that you can use Mr. Clean and that you don't actually need to buy any products. I happened to have been given a jar of cleaner from Ben Moss and it does work really well. It's crazy though how beautiful jewelry looks when it's clean versus dirty!!! Smiley smile

Awesome! I have this purple cleaner stuff that works wonders. Also, my jeweler told me windex does the trick just fine and that's what I use if I want a quick cleaning. I just spray my ring and rub it gently with my fingers and rinse it off with water.

I've been taking my ring to the jeweler and so far he's been cleaning it for free. Didn't even ask him how I can clean it at home.

Hm I thought that using ammonia based products on rings was bad? Maybe I'm wrong. Clearly windex works for you ladies!

Mine gets cleaned for free at the jeweler and I take it about once a month when we make a payment on our wedding rings. They don't put it in anything that vibrates though. They use cleaner and a toothbrush.

I use sudsy ammonia and it's only $1.67/big bottle. It's basically Windex with a little soap. I let it soak and then scrub with a toothbrush and rinse with warm water. Cheap and works great.

I asked the jewelery store what they use to clean it and they told me water and ammonia. So it must not be too bad for jewelry. It probably depends on your stone and metal though.

There's a jeweler that's not too far from me that sells the most amazing cleaning/polishing cloths. All you have to do is rub your jewellery on the inside to clean it then a quick buff with the outer part and your jewellery is good as new! and their also only $5/piece!
