New England Honeymoon?
We want the best of both worlds: I want ocean/ seaside and he is a mountain man. lol so I am looking into going to New England- Vermont/ New Hampshire/ RI, ect. We aren't fans of cities so going to New York or Boston isn't a big deal for us. Please consider that we are on a budget so please no over the top suggestions :) I'd appreciate any ideas and help I can get!

How about Maine? Arcadia National Park is beautiful and it is the best of both worlds. Check out the attached site :) http://www.newenglandtravelplanner.com/go/me/bar_harbor/index.html

are you going right after your wedding or are you planning for a different time of year. I'm from right about the middle of MA and have some pretty good ideas depending on the season.

We don't want to go to the west coast because that is extra $- airfare.
We're getting married on 08/28/2010 and will probably leave that Monday for the HM, I don't know how long of one we'll get to take (I get 2 weeks of vacation and he does too but he likes to hunt so he'll keep a few days of time saved up.)
Kritenlee- thank you so much for the links!! I'll be sure to check them all out but I have a family member that lives in Maine and I'd like to avoid having him say "Hey let's hang out" while we're on our HM. :)

Thanks again for all of your ideas! I think we might look at New Hampshire but I'll keep Maine in mind.

I live in RI - Newport is absolutely beautiful! there is Arcadia State Park in RI - which isnt full of mountains, but absolute gorgeus hiking in the woods.

White Mountain Nat Forest in NH is also beautiful - we usually visit every year, also Lake winnipesauke in NK is a great region to visit as well

I agree with carla that cape is also beautiful - but to me it can be just to busy at times

I agree maybe spending a day or two on the Vineyard or even Block Island would get you some great beach scene time. Then there are some really great state parks for camping. The Portsmouth, NH area is really a fun town with some really great small shops etc. Also if you go to VT at the end of August beginning of September you could take the gondola on Killington mountain to the top and see the start of the fall foliage that is really beautiful.

I lived in NH for 9 years and loved it - August is beautiful. Rye Beach is very nice and you have the White Mountains. Had things been different I never would have left!
Go right up through I-95 to the Spaulding Turnpike - anything off that is beautiful.

Oh we looove N. England.. i've been vacationing in Cape Cod Mass. for 30yrs! If you love the ocean, its basically this long peninsula, surrounded by ocean/bay on 3 sides, its beautiful there.. water everywhere! As for mountains... i dont think there is much of that there.. i mean, there are mountains of sand...dunes! lol but if he likes being one with nature, theres plenty of that.. good luck

I agree with Lake Winnepesaukee in NH. They have great beaches, nightlife set right in the white mountain foothills. The ocean is only 45 minutes away. Just beautiful. I live there now. Highly recommend it.
