I think what you having going is perfect! It adds personality to your wedding and shows a special interest you both share.

i have heard that it can be confusing naming the tables. It's a lot easier just to look for a big # 3. I like the wine themes though.

I think it's a great idea to name the tables after wines. It's a big trend now to label the tables in some way other than just a number. I've seen weddings where the tables are named after places the bride and groom have traveled together, famous actors from the 50s, etc. It adds character to the wedding and shows off your interests. And setting each escort card into a cork will make a consistent theme. You could even give away wine stoppers as your favors! Best of luck!

The wine theme is great. I would suggest pairing the wine name with a number like "Cabernet 4". It is much easier for guests to find their table if it's marked with a number in addition to the theme name (especially if you have dinner lighting that may be dim or candlelit).
