My Kleinfeld experience yesterday...(pics)

FutureMrsM, on July 23, 2014 at 2:42 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 64

Soooo, I wanted to update you ladies on my trip to Kleinfeld. When you walk in you are greeted by very friendly receptionists and then are seated while you wait for your consultant. The store is very beautiful and they have some really gorgeous dresses at first glance. My consultant was running behind so my appointment started about 15mins late...not a great first impression but I wasn't too bothered. When she greeted me we went back to a very small dressing room in which my mother, my friend, the consultant and her assistant and I ALL squooze in to. The consultant proceeded to ask questions about my wedding, what I envision, price point etc etc etc (you know the usual stuff). I answered all her questions and she said ok and went to pull dresses for me. Mostly everything she pulled I did not like nor was what I asked for. She proceeded to tell me that with my price range ($3500) and my size (10) that they didnt have many options for me. (continued in comments)

This was confusing to me because they are supposed to have the largest inventory! The consultant kept bring dresses and nothing was close to what I wanted. I was looking for a ball gown preferably with beading and crystals etc. I also wanted the color blush but that was not an absolute deal breaker. As the appointment went on I grew more and more frustated as the consultant continued to tell me that I do not look good in ball gowns and I need a mermaid or fit and flare. She kept calling me round and I was literally two seconds from going off on her! I was open to trying on the fit and flare but requested that I go in the back with them to pull options. I pulled about 6 options and out of that group I found my dress! Granted she was right...the fit and flare did look better but her delivery was horrible!!! When I walked out to the main floor Mr. Kleinfeld (the owner) came up to me and expressed how beautiful I looked in the dress which was amazing. We talked for about 10 mins and I got tons of ooooh's and aaaahhh's. He even gave me his personal number and told me to call him for anything I need! Long story short the appoinment wasnt that great but in the end I Said YES to the Dress which made it all worth while!

Sorry the light was horrible but here is my dress. It's a blush fit and flare with lace and subtle sparke....

As a consultant she should have more tact. Glad you did't let her get you too upset. Congrats on your dream dress.

Cool! So was this for the show or just as a normal client? I know they make you fill out all sorts of paperwork if you're going to be on the show, etc.

Very cool! I'm a size 16 in wedding gowns, so I knew there'd be no point for me to go there, and I really didn't want that experience to be on TV either! I ended up finding my gown at the 3rd place, so I also didn't really feel like I needed to go up there and look.

Kasheena, it honestly felt as if you dont have a budget of $5k or more that they cant help you which is ridiculous! At least from the consultants perspective anyway....

Glad you found your dress but your consultant does sound like a total biotch. She probably got dumped and is jealous of all the girls getting married lol! Don't forget to add a photo of your dress! I love dress posts.

That's crazy. I have seen the show when people come in with **** to spend. Maybe I'm being naive but, are the majority of their customers spending $5k and more on their wedding dresses? Maybe I'm clueless but, I don't believe people are.

@Rusticbride this was a standard appointment. No TV apperance for me, lol

@Kasheena thats what I am saying but she kept trying to upsell me to that 5K price point. Maybe she has a quota to meet, idk! lol

That experience really isn't great! Ugh, what poor delivery on part of your consultant.

$3500 and a size 10 should not be a problem in a store with that much inventory. The thing is you could always say to them well I watch your show quite a bit and have seen plenty of brides with budgets under $2500.

My budget was 3k for everything (dress, veil, belt) and I got it at a boutique right outside of Philadelphia. Couldn't have been happier with my experience. I normally wear a 4 and I think the dress they ordered for me was 8 or a 10.

Dude....ugh! I am sorry your experience was not super fab. I mean, sheeish, I think a 3500.00 budget and a size 10 is a rockin appointment. I am nowhere close to a 10 and I am terrified to shop because of it.

I am never going shopping! *runs away*

    but I love your dress!! <3 <3 <3 <3

I agree @Koch Bride. I said all those things to her which is why I insisted on going in their stock room myself. The problem was that they were only looking in the plus size section for me becuase of my size. According to the consultant I could not fit into the regualr size samples. But I sure proved her wrong...I squeezed right into that size 10 sample! Now it didnt zip up in the back but thats ok, lol.

I am so glad I decided to go look at their inventory (regular sizes and all) because I found my dress and might I add it was under budget at 2k!!!!! #winning
