I cant believe David's Bridal is sells 30% of all the bridal gowns in this country!!! That's nuts!

I also read somewhere that 52% of married couples do not have sex on their wedding night. My FH freaked out when he read that ... (though he admitted that him and his ex wife didn't on their wedding night so at least something will be new to him! LOL)

I love little facts like that! That's one reason why I like to watch Bridezillas because the whole show is filled with wedding facts that are thrown in here and there. They (a Bridezillas episode) say that the most expensive wedding ever was in the 80's in Dubai at the cost of $44 million and this site says $60 million, but I'm assuming this higher priced wedding was more recent. Hope that couple is still married after spending that much!

what could you even spend that much money on? Did they give each of their guests a new car as a wedding favor or something? How do I get an invite to one of those weddings? LOL

I can understand the 52% of couples that don't have sex on their wedding night, it is amazing how tired you will be after such a busy day. I was EXHAUSTED beyond belief, but it was a very happy, content type of exhausted.

If you enjoy reading statistics about weddings, check out this site: http://www.theweddingreport.com/ (Some of the info is only available to paid subscribers, but quite a bit is free.) You won't find stats there about sex on the wedding night, but you can find out lots about average costs of weddings by state or metropolitan area, and info like that ...

Thanks Laura... interesting facts. I found it interesting that the average wedding costs over $28,000, but I keep hearing from brides on these boards that they can only spend $5 or $6 thousand. What gives? And, if that's true, where are these brides... don't they come here?

LOL Tyrone, I think that different boards have different demographic groups that tend to be on them....you are right, WW is not, in general, the group of people spending the national average amount on weddings. As it says in the statistics, it varies greatly according to the region of the country so maybe that's why. I am from NJ which on the statistics is the HIGHEST wedding average! I don't know how you do a wedding for $5 or $6 thousand either but lots of girls on here do it. More power to em! But like you, I'm often shocked...to answer your question, no not a lot of the brides spending that much come on these boards for some reason, or maybe they do but just don't talk about their budgets so we don't know who they are....I don't know why they're not on here either!

my grandparents are married 65 Yrs... and going strong..parents 44 yrs and going strong :-D.. 85 yrs is WOW! just to live long enough to reach that number! thats amazing!

I'm not surprised about David's Bridal at all. Just looking at the number of brides on here that purchase from them I'm not surprised that the number is higher.
