How much did you spend on Wedding Photography

Julie, on November 16, 2010 at 6:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 104

I need to book a photographer asap, but in Seattle, WA they are charging like $3,000 or more. What is normal for 10 hours/all day?

You have to take into account what all is included in that 3000. Is it worth it?

    Id say thats fairly normal.

Im spending just under $3000 and that includes 6 hrs day off, engagement session, edited pics and printing rights and a 10x10 wedding album.

And actaully, for my photogrpaher, all that is actually worth about $3700-but since we are friends, he gave us a discount

Uh, for 10 hours? YEA! That also does not include all the editing time that the photog has to spend AFTER the wedding itself. I'm sure Brian can chime in with a more lengthy explanation, but for TEN HOURS! yes, that's a good price.

It would be 10 hours on the wedding day, an engagement photo session, high res dvd of 400 images and 80 engagement images, plus online images for everyone to see.

I went through ThePros.com and I chose the cheapest package they had which was still enough for what my FH and I wanted (I can make my own wedding album so, I didn't need/want to pay for that). All in all we are paying about $1,000 for our photography and that's from when I start getting ready until the end of the reception. If you build a login for ThePros you don't have to purchase anything necessarily, but you'd be able to browse different photographers, some of their work, and reviews before you make a decision about anything.

Also, an assistant to the photographer, but no album. That is an extra $1,200.

I am down in Portland but mine is $3300 and that includes two photographers with unlimited time the day of the wedding, engagement session with engagement album, fully edited pictures and rights to do whatever I want with them, and two 11"x14" canvas prints.

here is a link to our photographer:

You're getting a lot in that package...ours would probably end up being the same price if I got all of those extras. Ours just comea with the photographer (all day) -- if he brings an assistant, I don't know about it. LOL. Proofing/editing of the pics, full rights to all photos, a DVD of the photos, and an online set up for the guests to choose photos from.

My package was 1200 for 5 hours, and he just handed us a disc of all the photos, and whatever we want edited he asked to send back so he dident have to edit 500 photos and we only want 100 done

@ Brian - I was able to choose my photographer (I looked through samples of his photos, short bio, and reviews); if I couldn't choose them I would have walked away. But, I will continue to keep my eyes open about them and prayers on-going, I appreciate the heads up! Smiley smile

My photographer was $800, that includes all processed pictures to be retouched, cd/dvd all printing rights ect for 4 hours. so I think for the full day for 3k is a good deal!
