How do I invite friends who are also performers?

I have been in a Polynesian Dance group for the last ten years and the girls have become like my family. One of the little Kiki's is even my flower girl. We are having a tropical themed wedding (because my FH is so supportive of his Hula Honey) and I have always dreamed of having my dance group perform at my wedding. Not myself of course, but I thought during dinner, they would be the entertainment. Well now that I'm engaged and planning my wedding, I am in a predicament, because I want to invite them all to the wedding as well. How do you think I should do this? Should I forget about having them dance and invite them as friends? Or maybe they could all perform just one or two numbers instead of a 30 minute show. I want them to be able to enjoy our wedding too! Does anyone have any ideas?

I think they can work and enjoy themselves too. I think it is a great idea for them to be your entertainment. maybe just set it up so they can get their meal after the show. And then they have hours afterwards to enjoy the wedding. And of course they should be able to be there for the ceremony as well.

If these ladies are like your family then I'd just straight up ask them. Tell them that you'd love for them all to be at your wedding to celebrate the day with you. Then say you'd also think it would be great to have them do a short performance. See how many of them wouldn't mind doing that for you. If they seem open to it then that's great! If not then tell them you totally understand and aren't hurt by their decision.

IMO, I would ask them if they would mind performing and being a guest. If your that close to them, I'm pretty sure they will find it to be an honor to perform at your wedding. It would be absolutely amazing to have such a performance and it's also part of something that is important to you. Keep us posted and I wish you the best of luck!

My photographer was a friend of mine. He got paid to do the photographs but gave me a heavy discount as his gift and he had a full sit down dinner, joined in on the dancing for some of the night and got to mingle with some of his other friends. I would give them a formal invite but also tell them how much it would mean to you if they perform a few dances. and why dont you join them for maybe the last number? It would be tons of fun. If they do agree to perform you could even give them a thank you gift or some kind of payment if they would normally get paid to do something like that. Bring it up and see what they say. They can do their dance, then go change and enjoy the rest of the night.

Thank you all so much for your great suggestions. I think I will ask them what they think and what they would feel comfortable doing. I also think the suggestion about joining them for one dance would be a nice touch (even in my wedding gown!). This was very helpful and I'm much more comfortable knowing it won't be a faux-pas to ask them. Thanks again!!

sounds fun. do what you have dreamed. they will enjoy your wedding. they will be excited that they get to be a part of it. have them do 30 min and then have the rest of the time to play and enjoy. its only 30 min and for them i am sure it will be an honor.
