Honeymoon in Hawaii
Going to Oahu/Waikiki Beach for Honeymoon.... Anyone have any ideas of what to see while we're there and how much money to take? Going for 8 days, flight and hotel already paid.

I've been to Hawaii, went to The Big Island and Maui. So I can't help you on your areas. But have fun! It is SO AMAZING!!!! If they have any volcanoes you have to go see them, so cool. Look to see if you can get to a black sand beach because that is awesome too.

I've been to oahu\waikiki and maui. I'll tell ya this if you like a busy beach;people watching :) and tons of restaurants and bars/clubs close then Waikiki is the place to go. We went there a few days and it was more than enough. Maui has a little of everything. Definitely go to pearl harbor, diamond head and north shore in the winter is awesome with the huge waves. We may go back for our honeymoon still deciding

Waikiki is a beautiful (and busy) beach. There are tons of shops to visit along the beach (stop into the Honolulu Cookie stores for a yummy treat). One of my favorite restaurant's was Dukes www.dukeswaikiki.com, you can eat right on the beach, the food is great and not expensive. Definitely eat there at least once!
.
Dinner entree's at the restaurants generally start at about $20 per person, but of course can go way up depending on where you go and what you get. Entertainment options vary. This website will give you an idea of what there is to do and how much it costs. http://waikiki.com/Activities/Top10_Activities.html
.
Since you will be there for 8 days you will want to spend some time away from the Waikiki beach. I recommend renting a car and driving along the freeways that circle the island. Get a guide book and stop by the places that interest you.
.
I loved Oahu and would go back in a heartbeat, so enjoy!

So like average cost for food per day would be what like 100? I've found some websites for activities with prices now just wandering about meals?

Its is a very very busy place.. Tons of people watching.. I have been there many times and I would say rent a carand goto the North side of the island. That is where the true beauty is.. You can also drive to the pineapple plantation, its a cool place to see and taste all the natural grown fruits. Its about 30 to 40 min drive. The island is in one big circle so you won't get lost..
I hope this helps

There are also lots of atms on Oahu in Waikiki...You should have at least $300 with you. Bring credit cards.....Drive to the North side of the island...Go to a Luau...there is the Dole Pineapple Plantation....there are some beautiful more secluded public beaches on the east side of the island. Get out of Waikiki...I think those tiny beaches are not worth it....go to Hanauma? Bay....it's beautiful and gorgeous, still a lot of ppl but more spacious and snorkeling too! Also you can go to Roy's for a nice dinner and order the butterfish with the chocolate souffle for dessert! You're welcome. ;p You will dream about it afterwards!!!
And hiking up to Diamond Head is not as bad as it seems at all.. completely do-able

Food could be $100 day or even more ..... keep in mind that Hawaii is expensive. But it depends where you eat, hole in the walls, spam sandwiches, or higher end restaurants. Whatever your tastes are....It could be cheap as Zippy's or a nicer like Roy's

$100 per day/per person is totally do-able eating at decent restaurants. $20 for breakfast, $30 for lunch, $50 for dinner. You could spend less, and you could spend more. Do you tend to order appetizers, drinks, expensive entree's and dessert? Or do you usually skip all that? I would look at the online menu's of the restaurants on Waikiki beach to get a better idea of what you would want to spend while you are there:

Sorry, the link didn't take. Just copy and paste or Google "Waikiki Restaurants".

I haven't been in many years but one of the most beautiful things I ever saw was the Biodo Inn Temple. It is in the Valley of the Temples. You have to walk a ways to get to it but it will take your breath away.
If you really want to save money - get on the Circle The Island Bus. You can get off whenever you want and catch another bus when you're done. The Temple was on this route. We went all the way up to Sunset Beach on the North Shore - awesome waves!
We also had fun finding small local eateries - great food and lots cheaper than hotel. Our splurge diner was at The Oceanic (restaurant on a ship) if it's still there.
Bishop Museum, Iolani(sp) Palace, Poly Cultural Center, Dole Pineapple - you've never had pineapple until you have it there.
If you can afford it try to get to some of the other islands - The Big Island for Volcanos and black sand beach, Maui is just plain gorgeous, Kauai for Orchids. Sunsets and see at least one Sunrise (this coming from a true night person)

OMG soooo beautiful there!! I did an "early honeymoon" with my FH at Waikiki and I loved it! I would suggest Pearl Harbor, and if you like shopping, check out the mall - it's a unique/fun one :) Also I would spend tons of time at the beaches (that's what we did) and ENJOY the night life! It's so big there and there are tons of performers and artists out on the streets at night. My profile picture on here is actually from Hawaii. The sunsets there are awesome!! Just enjoy yourself.
And idk where all these other people are spending $100 on food a day but we didn't spend NEAR that much. Just stay away from the McD's... it's really not that cheap HAHA
