Honeymoon help!
The FH and I can't decide where we wanna go, and we really need to pick a place this week so it's booked enough in advance. We're looking at...*deep breath* Paris, Hawaii, London, Bermuda, Dublin, Rome, or Venice. I speak a spot of French. Enough to get by, but not enough to consider myself multilingual. He only speaks English. I refuse to die before I tour Paris and ALL of Italy. He refuses to die until we see Dublin. But both of us like all the options and we simply can't choose! So if you've honeymooned at or visited any of these places, could you provide an opinion? What is there to do, what are the people like (I've heard the French are rude, but I am too, so I don't care. haha), what kind of atmosphere is it? Were you in bars every night or relaxing at some monument? If you were there for a week and a half would you get bored? How easy was it to travel from one site to the next? How expensive are the meals? Like really...any and all details would be great. Thanks in advance!!!

When I went to France, Italy, and Malta in summer of 2004, I found the French actually very nice and accommodating. Unfortunately, we didn't get to go to Venice, but I would recommend Florence and Avignon in France! My two favourite places from the two countries. Avignon is definitely more relaxed than a big city like Paris. Hopefully you will be going before the summer crowds and heat really kick in?

Hi Carmen! My fiance and I went to London about a year and a half ago. I absolutely loved it. It's expensive, but at the same time there's always something to do! If you stay in central London, everything is pretty much in walking distance (theaters...love it, shopping...LOVE IT, sightseeing). If you need to take the tube to get somewhere, make sure you have a map so you know where to get off/on. It can be confusing, but after a couple rides it's a lot easier. The people their can be rude (I almost got run over because I didn't know where I was going and was stopped in the middle of the 'tube' (train) station), but other than that I thought they were very friendly. I loved London and would definitely recommend it. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. I would love to help in any way I can. Good luck! :)

Wherever we choose to go, We'll be departing April 19th. However I HATE snow, so anywhere that's guaranteed to have a lot of it is immediately out. I'll tolerate a little bit of it if it's Italy or France, but...meh.

My vote would be Italy all the way. Florence, Rome, Venice, & the Almalfi coast are all must sees! The people in Italy are wonderful, and the food is of course, outstanding! There is a great B&B winery called Il Poggio, it's in Tuscany not too far from Florence. You can stay there for a few nights, tour the vineyards and such. If you go north from there, you can hit up Venice (it's a bit of a tourist trap in that their prices for food and lodging are quite high, but still amazing!). Let us know what you decide!

i agree with everyone ;) we're doing something a little different...fh wants me to see the biltmoore winery out in the carolinas, but the packages are super sucky for being 1300 for 3 nights!!! so he says we can't afford real wine country, but we're going to enjoy some wine! we're saving those locations, for when the baby is old enough to spend a couple weeks in kentucky during the summer. so i'm crossing my fingers, that we'll be in europe by 2015 ;) haha, i plan far out!!! no matter what you do, i hope you have fun! my cousins fh proposed to her back in april, on the eiffel tower ;) my aunt said he took her to france, and i automatically said he's going to propose. my aunt thought i was kidding! a week later, it was all over myspace and facebook...we girls know things like that ;)

Paris is really nice to visit for 2 or 3 days.If your french is not perfect they will look at you like you are crazy. It is easier to speak English. I loved Hawaii, went for a month to Oahu, Kauai & Maui. Honolulu is just like 5th Ave, way too commerical but the other side of the island is so beautiful. The people on all of the islands and soooo friendly. I loved Kauai & Maui but I also love the beach. It is expensive there and the flight is very long but I still loved it. Bermuda is just so beautiful, it is really spotless, you cannot rent a car there just a scooter or take a taxi. The restaurant were just ok. Dublin is a lot of fun and a very nice city. Again 2 or 3 days is enough and it may rain all the time. A lot of history. Rome you can also do in 2 or 3 days. Lots of museums and history. Venice is great. I loved the silence there and travelling on the boat bus.One thing to consider is that the US dollar is really weak against the euro making everything in the EU very expensive

How long will you be there? Europe is very easy to get around - I went backpacking there when I was in college and we went through 9 countries in 7 weeks. We were able to see a small town and a large city in each of the countries. So we would spend a day in the smaller towns and three days in the larger cities. So depending on how much time you have there you may be able to at least visit a few of the cities on your list. You could land in London, take an overnight ferry to Ireland, then down to France and then take a train to Rome or Venice. (Or go to Italy first and fly out of Paris.) Even if you only spent two days in each city you would at least be able to get the highlights of it. What I loved about seeing Europe this way is it gave me a really good idea about where I want to spend more time when I go back to Europe. (For me, it would be more time in Italy...)
.
The language barrier wasn't a big problem, so don't let that affect your decision on where to go.

We're planning on a nine day honeymoon. And the FH just found this um...thingy...for Dublin. $300 USD gets us 6 days of free admission to pretty much every touristy attraction in the city. Honestly though...if we end up in Dublin, I'll do whatever it takes...crawl on my stomach the whole way. But I HAVE to see Enya's house (read:castle) in Killiney. Hehe.

I've only been to Italy (AMAZING all around) Rome, Florence, Tuscany, and I've heard Venice is pricey (don't know if that's an issue for you). We are also looking at Ireland for possible honeymoon. Check out authentic ireland, they have some great packages, including an optional upgrade to Killiney Castle and were very responsive and helpful with my info request.

I recently just came back from Ireland...didn't make it to Dublin though. We traveled in the southwest part of Ireland along the coast and the Shannon river. We stayed in some smaller villiages. We had a fabalous time. Absolutely beautiful. The people are very nice. I am sure Dublin would be just as nice.
