Help with colors!!!

My FH and I are getting married Sept. 25,2010. I'm having the hardest time choosing the colors......I change my mind every day! I'd like my bridesmaid to wear black dresses. If anyone has any ideas for me I'd greatly appreciate it.

You are not alone in your difficulty choosing a color. Many brides have the same challenge. A great way to decide on your colors is by using the time of year. The Fall season offers some beautiful choices - hues of red, orange, copper tones, and browns.
Another idea is to use the time of your ceremony and reception: darker colors are usually acceptable for an evening wedding, while lighter shades work well in the daytime.
Hope this helps.
Congratulations and good luck.

Might I suggest a change of color for your bridesmaids... while black is elegant is can be harsh against some skin types and you get a softer look if you just change the color to Pewter...a silvery dark gray. This color can go with just about any contrast color... oranges are beautiful as are pinks and reds. like these:

Well me and my husband went with the black and fusia combo. Everyone said it the colors went great together and made everything look elegant. I have a pic on one of my boards that shows our wedding party.

There is a blog devoted to wedding colors - try browsing around there to see what sparks your attention. (There is a menu of colors on the left to choose from)

.
Note: I'm personally loving the Apple Green & Black combination at the bottom of the Apple Green page...

my MOH had a black dress with blue accents while the other girls were in royal blue with black accents. They are right though, not all girls can pull of black. Super pale girls look not so hot, only tanned girls can really pull it. If you have a bunch of palies like I did, try jewel tones. Blue, green, wine is usually good. You also have to pick outside or in... i tried outside and got 2 inches of snow so beware. Three things you need to think of are time, temp, and the atmosphere you want. We picked blue cause of my husbands eyes.

I think black & silver would look great for an evening wedding. You could do one of the DB dresses that have a sash and for those who want, they could wear a black dress with silver sash, and for those who don't want to wear black, they could wear silver with a black sash.
For a afternoon wedding, I'd probably lighten up the black with fushia. Same thing with the dresses though. I love the idea of alternating colors.

If you love black and white you can pair that with just about any color as an accent. Black and white damask is especially chic with lime green, romantic with red or youthful with hot pink. Check out my blog for a ton of color palettes ~ http://www.createdbycni.com!

Loving the pewter recommendation. I am going to think of that for my invite designs as well. If you would go with that color I would recommend doing eggplant for the accent color. This way it has a bit of a fall feel without feeling to much like a theme.
Good luck!

Black goes with any color, but I agree with the others: not everyone can wear black well. I love the idea of bridesmaids wearing different style gowns using the same color palette: that way, they can wear what looks best on them, & they don't look like clones! And it's always a good idea to get your bridesmaids' opinions....if they are happy, they'll be more helpful to you. LOL!
