Food Tasting
Oh!!! I almost forgot to mention!
I am going to do my 'food tasting' at my venue tomorrow.
I dont know how these things go.
FH, MOB, MOH & Bestman are going.......... is that okay?
Is it okay to take them? Everyone wants to have their say so.
Also, what can I expect?
1 sample portion for us to each share? ... not so sure that would work with us.

Any insite you have pls let me know.
How did yours go?
Who did you take?
Did you get to try one of everything that was being served?

Make sure they know how many people are going so they know how many they need to cook for. I only had one tasting and it was me, husband, Mom, and planner. They served us their most used dish. We loved it and that is what we ended up getting. I want to pretend like I'm getting married again so we can go to free tastings! lol

We were each served a plate, but a little smaller than the real thing. Although I got a full serving, because I'm the bride and I'm awesome. lol TGIF!

I went to 2 open houses that my venue held. They had a whole buffet line of food that they served. I went thru and tasted just about everything! (Ugh! So full!) Then decided from that.

Crazy part is, we already picked the menu... Had to do that when we booked the venue... ehh, but it's okay because if we dont like it, we can still change.
I just called and let them know how many of us are coming.
:0)

I hope it goes well!!

I say bring as many people as you want just make sure the caterer knows the number in advance. Be sure to give them an idea for what you'd like to sample before you go. More importantly let them know what you don't want to sample, like no red mean or beans. I hate beans, plus who wants beans at a wedding. Is the caterer being provided by the venue? Or is this one of many caterers that you're auditioning?

Oh you'll have to let us know how it goes.

I know with my venue I'm supposed to call them when I want to do it and let them know what foods I want to try. I don't know if they have a cap on how many people can go, I think that'd be something to ask the venue. Since I'm making my own menu for the entres I'm going to ask for 4 or 5 different things to sample and then pick my top 3 favorite things.

We were only allowed to take two people with us but we were told at the last minute we could also bring my dad. so it was me, fh, mothers, and my dad. The hotel provided us with a sheet to fill out with everything we wanted to try. We were even allowed to pick desserts even though we aren't having the hotel provide that for us since we have our wedding cake. Ours went good, the only thing was the food was under heat lamps so everything was a little cold, plus he made a big to do about explaining everything and how it would be presented and all that so it ended up taking hours. have fun! you really are treated like a queen and even though you are bringing more people with you, ultimately the decision is all up to you...and your FH.

I would check with your venue. We were only allowed 4 people for free for our tasting.

Plus, more people equals more opinions. That is not always a good thing.

Lynda is sooo right. Sometimes too many opinions muddy the water and make it more confusing!

We are having a tasting right after Thanksgiving. This particular catering company does the booking and tasting at the same time. So basically you have to use them since at the time of the tasting you have to provide the deposit.

Of course the biggest fear is that the food will be yucky, but whatever you don't like will come of the menu & you can substitute it for something else. They will make the new choices for you to pickup on a different date to take home & try. I guess they feel they know you will like something and since they don't charge a tasting fee it prevents them from being stiffed by the costumer.

This sounds kind of 'iffy' to me, but their prices over all are the best we've seen. For a NYC company it might even be considered cheap!
