Decorating Ideas
I have a dilemma. I am getting married in a few months in Las Vegas and I have to figure out how to decorate a penthouse suite that I rented in a hotel.I dont have a big budget for decor in the little reception im going to throw for the few guest that are coming for my wedding. I have no more then 50 guests and its going to be a cocktail reception only. My main colors I want to use is red and white. I am also need to set up a small bar area, candy buffet, cake area, gift area, entrance or guest book area, and appetizer area. I want some bling, candles, and dramatic flower arrangements. Whats advice can you guys give me?

Something dramatic that you could do is a sunken flower/floating candle arrangement for your tables. You can buy tall cylinders of varying hights and find deep red flowers (they can be silk) and submerge them in the water and add a floating candle to the top. Take into account that whatever the width of your cylinder, the floating candle needs to be at least 1/2" smaller. For instance, if you have a cylinder with a 3" wide mouth, you can't use a floating candle bigger than 2 1/2". I think this is a great way to decorate and add drama without spending a lot of money. YOu could also add white stones to the bottom of the cylinders to hold the flower stem in place and to add depth. You can also get diamond table decor for really cheap now. Try save-on-crafts.com. Everything I've mentioned you can find on their website. Also, wholesalefloral.com has floating candles for as cheap as I've been able to find (2" 6 for $2.99, 3" 6 for $4.99). Try afloral.com for silk flowers.

Hmm..well if it's a penthouse suite..it's prolly pretty nice already!! Ofcourse you can do table treatments, have you considered decorating a small area for photos? You could do that in front of a window and just drape white billowy fabric on the curtain rod, place a nice chair/sofa from the suite there, then maybe a flower treatment or two...not sure what kind tho..I would have better ideas if I saw pics of the suite to see what you have to work with and the layout..but I'll try!..then have some center pieces on the tables, bar and candy bar..I like the submerged flower idea, mayeb you could do it white white and red orchids? I'm not sure how pricey fake ones are..instead of the white rocks in the bottom of the vase you could do the fake diamonds..I've always liked the strand of crystals hanging from the ceiling..but you probaly can't do that..but maybe somewhere else?? You could also add in addition to floating candles at the tables areas..more diamonds on the table with rose con't

Hello Sandy and congratulations on your upcoming wedding. I am not sure what type of candles you are looking for, but I have a nice selection of Las Vegas style candles in my store that you can check out, if you would like. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. I love to help.

how about using some red and white silk rose petals to sprinkle around on your tables and around the penthouse? You can get them from:

Are you having tables in your suite? how many people are going to your reception? I thought of buying over sized glasses but I have a few kids that are going to go and Im worried about it not being stable and falling on the kids.

I forgot to tell you but I already did get containers for the candy buffet. I did look up the prices for the apothecary jars on save-on-crafts.com but for small jars its around $20 each. Luckily I found a set of 3 apothecary jars for $20 at Sears. Since I wanted to vary the sizes of the containers. I went to TJ Maxx and found another type of jar for $14. Then I found out that the Salvation Army consignment store once a month has a day where everything in their store is 50%off. So I went and found a lot of glassware for the candy buffet. I was also lucky enough to find a three tier serving tray that was new still in its box. Also for decoration purposes I found a lot of other things im using from my mother. I think its a good idea to use things from your close family especially if you know they always have parties.

Touch of Flavor....seriously?? She asked for decoration ideas. Not for vendors to try and sell her favor ideas. Get a grip. If you can't give her DECORATION ideas, don't respond.

we are having just 2 tables everything else is going to be strategically placed around the room. we are filling the tub with bottles of alcohol(champagne and wine) and we are hoping to keep the kids occupied by doing a cupcake decorating party where they get to decorate a cupcake to eat.....
i will have to look into those shops u mentioned.....good find on the 3 tier stand!!!!!!

Another question. What are u doing about the food and liquor situation in your room? Just to let you guys know if you have a party at a big suite in vegas the hotel basically wants you to pay for there catering and every thing is super expensive. Example, a buffalo wing is $4 per wing. Also drinks are super expensive. The hotel is basically saying we cant bring any caterers from outside otherwise we are being charged. What my fiancee and I decided to do since we are having a cocktail party is bring in our own liquor and just pre order stuff from costco and other places like that are near. What are you doing about your cake. I love the cupcake idea bye the way!!! Im having around 50 people too. We are having very little amount of people too.

I ment kids bye in the previous comment. The only kids that are going are my flower girls, ring bearer, and some children from families that cant leave there kids at home. Also I ment to ask what are you doing in vegas regarding hair and make up for you and your bridal party and mothers? Since this is suppose to be a small wedding and I wasnt suppose to spend a lot I found out that Albertsons bake real wedding cakes and right now they have a discount on there wedding cakes. They just need you to pay 25% of the cake price to order it.The cake that I loved with the discount is less then $200 and for the down it will only be $55.Which is a bargain! Initially I wanted a big expensive cake that was going to cost me $500 for 50people. As I thought about it more and I figured that $500 can go towards other things that are more important to us.So I decided to order a cake from Albertons because the cake designs are actually not that different from those expensive cakes.

you can also decorate your home with cartoon posters on the home walls in your baby's room.
