candy/dessert buffet
Just wondering if anyone is having a candy or dessert buffet at their wedding? FH and I are kicking this idea around..and leaning towards the candy buffet. Our wedding is a Christmas wedding, any suggestions on what type of candy to serve? Thanks!

We're having a Candy Buffet! We decided to serve our favorite candies we grew up with such as ring pops, pop rocks, fundips, chocolate pretzles, gumballs, chocolate kisses, etc...

We're having the candy buffet as our favors. I love the idea of a candy buffet!

Christmas is a great time for candy! The best part is if you're wedding is christmas theme it will be easy to find candy in your color scheme.

Well ofcourse candy canes! How about Make Your Own Marshmellow Snowman? You have graham crakers for a toboggan, black liqorice slivers for arms, red liqorice for scarves, orange tic tacs for noses and assorted small colored candies for eyes, mouth, buttons, etc. (you may need peanut butter or melted chocolate to make it all hold) Some gingerbread men/gal cookies?, Snowball cookies?, they're a rounf cookies with rice crispies in them then rolled in coconut, there are more..if I think of them I'll post!

Oh i forgot to tell you... I'm getting my scoopers from scoops-scoops.com

They scoopers are really nice but don't get the tongs. The tongs were poorly made. I bought tongs at party city for $1.29 each.

This same website has a lot of great ideas for a candy buffet.

We're having a candy buffet and are going with two colors that are slightly different than our wedding colors. I guess it really depends what your colors are but I think it'd be really cute to go all Christmas-y with candy canes and hot cocoa with marshmallows.

Okay, so FH and I sat down and looked at candy. We've picked out these and can't decide...HELP~!
Old fashion Peanut Brittle, Salt Water Taffy, Candy canes, taffee, pretezel rods, jelly beans, delux Christmas candy, ribbon candy, reindeer corn, rock candy, M&M's, spice drops, Kisses, reeces' cup Christmas mini's.
From what we have read, it takes about 1/4-1/2 lbs per guest, and we need at least 8 different types of candy.

We are also doing a candy bar. we are placing all of our candy in oversized glasses from michaels. like over sized martini glasses, champagne glasses and brandi glasses as well as some bowls (we are having our wedding reception in our suite at the planet hollywood casino in las vegas)..
the candy we are having is:
-whopers (MY FAV)
-Mini Jolly ranchers
- Hershey Kisses
-Sour Strips
-Red Vines
-Tootsie Rolls
-Andres Mints

We set out clear celo bags with a sticker on them at the end of the buffet for our guests to fill the bag to go....

I have an update: Instead of the candy buffet we're just going with our first idea of a dessert bar. FH says the candy buffet is too expensive plus we are both bakers and we can make a lot of the desserts. This is what we have on the list of ideas: Delux Christmas Fudge, Cake balls, brownies (cut out with Christmas cookie cutters), snowman cookies, Chocolate snowballs, Raspberry Poppy seed cookies, no-bake cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and for the diabetics: Orangesicles Pie, and mayle a fruit and cheese tray. What about this? Is it enough?

OMG! The fudge recipe we found is soooo easy and one batch makes like 80 pc. of fudge! I can not wait to get in the kitchen and start the sampleing process....must be careful, though...have to get INTO the dress...lol

We couldn't decide on a candy or dessert buffet so we are calling it "sweet treats" buffet. We are having candy and cookies and brownies(his fave). Cookie dough can stay frozed for up to 6 months so 1 month before our wedding I am making a ton of cookie dough and a week before our wedding..I am baking 'em, just to save some time. Candy is good up to 6 months in an unopened pkg. I am also having candied apples or caramel apples...can't decide which, but candied apples are good up to 2-3 days after being made and caramel about 6 months. They are really cheap to make too.

That would really depend on if you are having a Christmas themed wedding with the red's and green's and the Christmas characters such as Santa and Snowman. Otherwise, I would recommend incorporating your colors into the buffet. For instance, I had a bride whose colors were fushia and lime, she had strawberry and lime or sour apple flavored candy on her buffet table. Just make sure to have different height containers. You can add different colored christmas balls and fake snow to the table to add to the decor. It should look very lovely. blaircandy.com has a wide variety of candy at a low price.
