Bathroom baskets...
Are you having one? I have been to a lot of weddings lately that have had them with things like hair spray, gum, mouth wash, bobby pins, tampons....Obviously I cant see what they put in the mens room lol...are you ladies providing this for your guests? I want to, but since I am having my wedding in a hotel, I dont want my basets to grow legs and take off.

I think its an unnecessary expense created by the wedding industry. If the hotel bathrooms are open to other people than I would definitely skip it. How would someone know if the hotel put it there as a convenience to their guests or if you did it?

Most of the venues I go to provide it as part of their service. The quality and attractiveness of these baskets varies from place to place. I have seen brides spend a lot of money on fancy bathroom baskets to match their decor. They do get used, and even if I don't use it as a guest, I appreciate that it is there. I would ask your coordinator at the hotel what has happened with baskets in the past. They probably have experience with this.

Good Idea. thanks for bringing it up

If the hotel is the kind of place that you're going to have your wedding at, then I'd think it would be safe to assume it's not the kind of place where someone else there is going to steal a basket of mints, bobby pins, and lotion.
And yeah, there's always the possibility of somebody who's not part of your wedding using an item from the basket, but that's probably not a big deal. I mean, if a stranger in the bathroom ask you for a mint or a squirt of lotion, you'd give it to them, right?

The mens room basket ran out of Tylenol before the service even started (ceremony same place) at the place I shot Friday night. Usually mouthwash in there, gum, Tide stick, floss, tissues next to it, matches, those are the things that come to mind immediately for the mens room basket. Sometimes there is even a cologne assortment?!

I think it is a great idea... At my venue we have our own private bathrooms for my guests only so it will be perfect!

I like the idea, and we did them, however, I don't think hardly anything got used. So, if you need to cut items to save money at some point, this is probably something you could cut.

I have been to a few weddings with the bathroom baskets and at least in the ladies room nothing was used. I personally do not enjoy eating candy or gum from the bathroom. I know its wrapped up but I still find it a little gross.

I made up custom bath & body gift baskets for my guest.. I put body lotion, bath salts, shower gel & beach soap favors. I packaged them in sombraro hats, bec I got married in Mexico..
All the bath & body products can be scented & colored. There are over 500 different scents and 7 colors.. My guest loved it beC it was something that they enjoy using.. You can even personalize each of the bottles with a personalized label (bride & grooms name & date)
If you have a theme and dont see anything on the website then just shot me an email with your theme and I will try to find you the right packaging..

I'm not going to do it. It may be nice but if my thoughts are that if the ladies are going to need something like that, then they should have thought ahead and brought it with them. Plus, the budget is tight.

I think they are a great idea. I really want to do one but I have to wait until the time gets closer to see if it will be in the budget. They don't have to be anything extravegant(sp) though. Most of the stuff that you might want to put in one could be found at the local dollar store.

I think they are a nice idea, if I was a guest I'd think it was pretty neat. I'm not planning on having them though, budget reasons, plus there's the chance at frederick Meijer Gardens that another reception could be happening next to ours. So the guests of the other wedding could end up using them too.
If the only reason you are thinking of not doing it is because they might get stolen, I wouldn't worry too much. There probably won't be too many people who aren't your guests using the bathrooms. Hotel rooms have their own potty's, and if someone sees a wedding going on close by, they will probably avoid the area, at least I'd think they would. I say go for it ^^

I wouldn't do it if you have to have a 'communal' bathroom that will be shared with all the guests at the hotel, but if its a bathroom only your guests would use, then I'd go ahead. We're rentaing a hall and I'll put bathroom baskets in the ladies room only, ANd I won't put any cndoms or meds in there, as there will be childres at the wedding, and they don't need to eat a whole bottle of tylenol/advil or take a condom to their parent and ask what it is..

That was one of my MUST have's for my wedding...which was weird I know. Here is the poem for the sign I made for the basket that I filled with a sewing kit, deoderant, listerine breath strips, bandaids, asprin, lotion, stain remover wipes, etc. I also got special lotion and handsoap to use for each bathroom a candle.

So happy you’re here to share in our special day,
But should something happen to go astray
Please help yourself to the contents within
Wet wipe, hand lotion, and even aspirin
Use only what you need and leave the rest
It may also be useful to another guest
So repair the damage that may have done
Then hurry back and enjoy the fun

I also taped our engagement pics on the mirrors in a collage, got a rug, throw pillows, etc. we had a nasty bathroom though so I had to spruce it up.

the poem would make it clear it's for the wedding guests not the hotel guests too.

somewhere chic or high end...other wise, i'm sure my baskets would have grown legs and taken off within the first couple of hours of my reception. it's a nice thought though. my fbil was pressuring me to have that and at the time i thought it was ridiculous for my venue and reception style. i was right. do it if it's appropriate and you want it.
wow, i love alexis' poem.

We had our entire venue to ourselves so I did one...no one mentioned it and I'm pretty sure no one used anything in it.....but I have been to weddings where I was so grateful for their bathroom basket and saw many guest use a lot in it. So I think it's one of those things that is not in the least bit necessary but if you really want to do it and have the extra time and money go ahead. I picked up the stuff at the dollar store and have used it for travel stuff since so nothing was wasted.

I'm doing one and putting a cute poem in a frame next to it. This would help your guests with knowing you put it there and not the hotel.

So happy you're here to share our special day!
But should something happen to go astray,
Please help yourself to the contents within,
Band-aids, lotion, and even aspirin.
Use only what you need and leave the rest,
It may be useful to another guest.
So repair the damage that may have been done
then hurry on back and join the fun!

Compliments of the Newlyweds.
