Barns ?
I want to have a barn type reception - all the more popular places are $3k just to walk in the door, BEFORE anything else. Any ideas? Looking for MD - VA area.

I went to http://www.thebarnjournal.org/resource/event_barns.html#MD, they have names and #'s for barns in MD that you can use for a wedding reception, they didn't have prices but I think u have to call for those. Also you can go on here to Vendors and put in Venues and they will ask for ur zip code/state and you can find venues that way too. Good luck! :)

I love the site and I can connect you with some local vendors for flowers, cake and other things to help keep your delivery costs down. PM me if you are interested.

its very rough and they havent done a lot to change it from looking like a barn. Still even has the two watering troughs in it from when it was a cattle barn.

I love your idea!!! I really want to get married in a barn, but my FILs agreed to pay for more things if we get married in a church. We are still having a western themed outside reception with tractors, hay rides and bon fires. You can still pull off the feel of a barn even if you only have a tent or something to have the wedding/reception under! Good luck!!

How about WV? I was looking into this place b/c I live in WV and thought it was a great wedding weekend idea. From the information I was beginning to gather on this place you and your guests arrive on Friday and you pick your spot and have a rehersal, dinner and then a bon fire afterwards. Then the next day is the wedding and reception and then departure on Sunday after a big breakfast. There is lodging onsite for up to 45 and then hotels nearby. I thought it would be great to have the whole fmaily together for it. But then had a change of plans. Here is the link if you want to see pics and read more. I can't remember if they had a barn or not.

I agree with Celtic Chic. Jefferson Patterson Park is an amazing reception venue. It even has a view of the water for photos. I planned a wedding for a couple last year. You can dress it up a bit for a country chic' wedding or keep it more casual. Let me know if you need any assistance! I would love to help! :o) www.trebellaevents.com
