Baking my own wedding cake! *PICS*

I am so excited I had to share with someone! For some insane reason I decided I was going to make my own wedding cake. Yes, crazy I know. I am, however, thrilled to say that I finished it with about 15 hours worth of work on it (including cake ball favors) and it looks amazing! I couldn't share pics on facebook and knew you ladies would enjoy! :)

Wow! I can't imagine making my own wedding cake. I think I would be really stressed. You did a fantastic job! It looks great and is probably one of the coolest DIYs I've seen here :)

lets see the cake balls. You are very brave, everyone is always asking me if I am going to bake my cake, I tell them no. I don't think I would have the time because they are so labor intensive.

Thank so much ladies! Kimberly, I was stressing the cake but, I think it actually helped keep my nerves in check. I already boxed up the cake balls into the favor boxes but, I took one out to take a pic of for you.

Great job but K&B is this cake for your Saturday wedding? Is it normal for wedding cakes to be almost a week old when they are served?

Mek, it will be ok. When I have to bake and decorate a cake , I bake it the night before & decorate it the morning of BUT....I say that it will be ok because grocery store cakes are baked, frozen and then decorated and displayed in the cooler for up to a week @ a time for purchase. MekMek, this cake is for my Saturday wedding. I don't know if it's "normal" or not but, mine is "fresher" than it would have been if my chef did it. He was going to bake it last weekend. Everything from Wilton says you store at cool/room temperature for 4-6 days. Thanks for thinking of that! Luckily, I did too!
