Anybody doing their own flowers??
I am considering it since the bouquets, centerpieces, etc. are not going to be big at all, or super elaborate.

I'm doing my centerpieces and ceremony flowers; also the flowers for the afterparty but I'm having a florist do my bouquet, his bout., my moh bouquet, two corsages for my mom and his sister. Since I have a small wedding (25), I was thinking of making simple white rose bout. for the men and giving a single white rose stem to the women. My tables are at a restaurant so I'm doing two small to medium pie pumpkins with antique green hydrangea and raspberry pink roses along with votive candles. I'm also making a hydrangea wreath for the door of the suite where the after party will be held.

I'm handling the flowers myself. Since the church will already be decorated for Christmas I just have to worry about the bouquets and boutonnieres. At the reception the tables already come with mirrors, candles, hurricane globes, and glass beads twisted around the globe so I'm not adding any flowers there. I will use the various bouqets as decor in vases at the reception site. Shouldn't be too much trouble that way. The reception site will have lots of other Christmas decorations so my task is fairly minimal.

my mom is growing (yes growing) all my flowers. She ordered a whole bunch of cali lili bulbs and other beautiful flowers to make our centerpeices and bouqets. She is a fantastic gardner and it will save so much money

i didnt do my oown flowers but i am now a b, and we are doing the flowers for her wedding. she will be ordering them just before the wedding and we'll be putting them together right before the wedding. from what i hearits nottoo hard, which is good since well have a lot of flowers to make for her wedding haha!! it will definitely save you money so if you feel like you would be able to do it then i say go for it. maybe go buy some flowers at a grocery store and do some test runs

You know, I thought about trying to grow my own, but we live in Southeast Texas, and I am not 100% sure that everything will take and grow well before the wedding. Or that they would even be in bloom that time of year. i did find a couple of websites that had great prices on their fresh flowers in bulk orders.

I am not sure what I'm doing yet.. the florist is pretty much my last vendor that I need to book. I just don't know... I don't want to spend an arm and a leg and I pretty much only need the ceremony flowers because our reception centerpieces are going to be mostly candles (there might be some rose petals or something in there). Anyone have suggestions for the Frederick, MD area regarding florists? Much appreciated

I am not putting my flowers together. I just can't imagine adding one more thing to do right before the wedding. But then again we are having about 30 out of town guests staying about 5 minutes from my house so we are going to be busy entertaining them.

I am a florist and I am crazy enough that I did my own wedding ( with assistants) for 200 people. I had my hands full of work and I knew what I was doing, I can't imagine you ladies trying to look your best and being up till 4am fixing things up just as I was.
I recommend sticking to your budget, going sometimes smaller than what you had in mind but handing the job to others.
You're supposed to relax for your wedding!

I really appreciate the impulse to DIY and save money, but I won't touch fresh flowers. I've seen professionals struggle with browning calla lillies, wilting hydrangeas, drooping tulips, broken vases and big puddles of spilled water on carpets...etc. I would never want to hassle with flowers on the most stressful day of my life.

Thats why I said real touch flowers instead of real flowers lol, the reals ones would die before I even got started. I dont need many flowers anyway. I want candle centerpieces.

I am going to do my own. For the ceremony, I'm decorating two large grapevine wreaths with silk flowers. For the reception, I'm going to do the same thing - smaller grapevine wreaths with silk flowers sitting on the tables, with pillar candles in the middle. Since we're not having any attendants other than my daughter (flower girl) I'm going to do my own bouquet with real roses the day before the wedding. I did a trial run a couple weeks ago with a $7.99 bouquet of white roses from Trader Joes and it turned out pretty well.

We are doing or own. I got a bunch of silk flowers at wholesale prices. we threw a few out but kept most. Because we got silk we are making them way ahead. we have small tables so we are going a big grouping of flowers in a small vase on each table and bogger arrangements on the food, guest book, etc. tables. I got a book from Hobby Lobby on how to do bout. and bouqets and hair wreaths for f.g. You can find decent prices on silk flowers at www.afloral.com. Lots of how to vid's and you can buy prearranged. www.fiftyflowers.com good choice for real flowers.
