Am I being too picky? (Ugly carpets in venue)

I don't think that's being picky at all. Remember this is your wedding day, a once of a lifetime event. It's not something you want to take lightly. As a photographer I can already tell that carpet is not going to do your wedding justice. Especially if you have such a beautiful color choice as plum and orange. Also if it's stretching your budget it needs to come with a bit more of what you're looking for. I think you're perfectly in the right.

Man that is ugly lol. So many venues have ugly carpet, I don't get it. We were truly blessed to find a venue with hardwood floors.

I imagine the lights would be a lot dimmer for your reception so that's something to consider.

You're not being picky at all! I had the same issue. Venues either had beautiful chairs and carpet but awful wallpaper or beautiful everything and horrible carpet or ugly chairs and.....you get my point lol. Finally found one that had nice everything.... decor, chairs and carpet!

Ok I am the odd one out. I don't think the carpet is that terrible or would clash with your colors. But you are still pretty far out so you still have time to find a venue to fall in love with.

While the color isn't great October (which looking at your date, that's when you're gettingmarried) is a busy wedding month and if you wait much longer you may not have a choice. With low lighting it may not be that big a deal, especially if that's the only problem you have with the venue.

Have you considered uplighting? It could really change the look of your venue.

Honestly I paid more for my venue because the carpet was neutral and the ceiling wasn't hideous. However most people don't notice these things. Is your wedding going to be at night? Perhaps with dim lighting it won't look so bad.

That carpet would have me running out the door fast. For a $6k rental fee, they should update that crap!

I'm with Care Bear except that I don't think you have a ton of time to find something. Avoiding the carpet isn't something to overstretch your budget on, especially when its probably one of the first things you are booking/ buying. You never know what else is going to cost more than you might think. Nobody looks at carpet anyway, at least not after they see your decor. That carpet isn't great, but its not something to knock when that venue is more in budget. If this is the only thing holding you back, go ahead and book. If you are questioning/don't like other aspects of the venue, keep looking. You'll know when its right, just like you know when the dress is right.

Uplighting is not going to help that carpet. Keep looking. Your colors are stunning - although I'm a little partial because mine were orange, gold and ivory. Our venue had hardwood floors, so it went with every color scheme.

Now THIS is the place thats $6k...

Trust me, no one is going to notice it.

Wow it is absolutely gorgeous. I can see why you like the $6K place more but you are playing with fire if it is outside of your budget and you keep looking at these pictures.

Oooh! Well that's good, glad it is the cheaper one! In that case, I am less offended by it But it's still not pretty. The $6k venue is very beautiful, but that is a hefty price with nothing included.

While the carpet is a bit of an eye sore, I agree... no one will notice. Keep looking though if your date is flexible -- you'll find something! If you decide this venue is the one, that's great as well.

The 6K one is beautiful, but yeesh. So expensive!
