Aisle Decor

So, I've been kinda stumped when it comes to decorating the aisle. I'm having an outdoor ceremony on grass, and I'm having white rose petals lining the aisle. My florist suggested having something else so the aisle doesn't look so bare. I don't really wanna do flowers or tulle. I'd like to do something more unique. I've been thinking about ribbon (like in the pic below). What do you guys think? What is everyone else doing for aisle decor?

I thin that will look really nice. We are having an indoor nighttime wedding so im having candles line the edges of the aisle and rose petals scattered down it.

My ceremony was outdoors too, and I found these great bows at the Dollar Store (I think they were labeled Pew Bows) that you put together real easy and tie to either every row of chairs or every other row. Then we lined the edges of the aisle-way with rose petals. It came out beautifully!

What about some garden tea light holders? The ones that come on about a 3 foot pole/stick? They could be clear glass or tinted glass or in some shape that matches your theme, if you have one.
The pole would stick in the ground and you could light the candles inside the holder.

What Lois has suggested looks really nice. Ikea also has silver lanterns you can put candles in and place them either on a post in the ground or on the ground themselves and it gives a really nice ambiance.

I love candles, but do you think the effect will be lost since the wedding is outside in the afternoon (about 4pm)?

I am of the school that less is more when it comes to ceremonies but that is just me...

At 4:00pm the light is beginning to dim a bit, and if the candle holders are nice, having them line the aisles, candles or not, would be nice. It would give it more of a 2 dimensional effect, with the rose petals being on the ground, and the candle holders being higher off the ground. Just my opinion, but I am a sucker for candles/candle holders for any occasion.

We are doing grapevine wreaths with ivy and flowers. There is a pic in my IBs. They were pretty easy and inexpensive to make.

If you want to do something different, how about hanging small chinese lanterns in a fun color from the chairs with pretty satin ribbon? You can find them at
www.save-on-crafts.com and I think they have them at oriental trading, too. Best Wishes!

I love ribbon compared to tulle and am draping ribbon over the pews like that photo with a small arrangement of pine and jingle bells (Christmas) but you could pick many non-floral options by doing leaves, more ribbon, pinecones, etc.

All of these suggestions are great and sound pretty. You could just tie some flower bunches, real or silk with ribbon, to the first few chairs to denote family aisles. Also, make sure you use real flower petals. I had a bride give me bags of silk flower petals for an outdoor wedding and they were too light and blew all over the place. I spent an hour cleaning blue flower petals out of the grass and bushes at the venue. And, I don't recommend aisle runners for outside. They become a sail if the wind gets under them and help to fling the flower petals everywhere!
