What is the proper amount of money to give the pastor if he doesn't say?
I don't know how much money to give the pastor for performing the ceremony at my daughter's wedding.

I worked as the Office Administrator for a local
church for 10 years. Part of my duties were rentals,
so I scheduled weddings there. We had several forms for weddings, including one that had fees listed. The
minister's fee was $250, which included a consultation and one rehearsal. If there is no formal arrangement for this, usually a donation of cash, or an agreed on thank you gesture can be arranged. Members of our church
were not expected to pay for weddings, and I believe
most ministers would waive or reduce the fee for a financial hardship. Hope this helps Nancy

Mine hasn't mentioned money...I hope he doesn't have a fee like that.

$250 is average, but you may want to gently suggest he specify.
"Hi Pastor, I'm working on my wedding budget and I need to know what your fee or suggested donation is?" He or she should "get it" that you're paying for meals, flowers, the cake, the dress, wedding insurance, entertainment...the list goes on and on! Whew!

The pastor who is marrying my FS and I (at which we are not a member of) only asks for a donation. He also married my sister last year and the donation was $50. But of course this varies from place to place.
